  1. What an ovation for a Europa League pre-group match.
  2. My guess is Rooney is out wide and Klaassen behind, but could be wrong.
  3. Haven't watched Ozark yet but it's on my list. Ballers is great. First episode premiered Sunday over here. I like the direction. It's Sunday night counterpart Insecure is pretty damn good, too.
  4. Edit: I understand that Pickford will likely not be starting every Europa League match, but I'd think you'd want him in there in the first competitive match possible.
  5. Stek Martina Baines Keane Williams Gana Schneiderlin Klaassen Mirallas Calvert-Lewin Rooney Don't like it. Why do you pay 30m on a keeper and then not start him? And Martina at RB does not fill me with confidence. OK with up front, but a little curious as to why DCL is getting the nod over Sandro.
  6. Everything just calling him a defender. Hard to say. He is only barely 17, so still probably finding his best position.
  7. Couldn't find any myself. Opted for a VPN as I've been meaning to get one anyway.
  8. Did I hear him incorrectly? Sounded to me like he would have no role, but Koeman said he would train with the first team as he still has a year left on his contract.
  9. This also the one and only broad issue (gender/sexuality) that Ivanka and Kushner have demonstrated a clear desire to ideologically separate themselves from Orange man.
  10. Do we need an attacking midfielder? Think Klaasen, Davies and Dowell will be fine.
  11. Yeah we're all saying we'd rather pay 50m for Van Dijk than Siggurdson, so there's one option.
  12. Uhh... I'd disagree. Vehemently. More than I disagree with most things. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/football/2016/sep/01/chelsea-38-players-loan-who-where
  13. I'm asking what's different about principle for player and club. You care that Everton the club is principled; you wouldn't want us tapping up a player like Liverpool has even if it meant gaining a competitive advantage. That's turning your nose up out of principle. But you'd accept Suarez despite his conduct, and then mock those who wouldn't out of principle. Just seems a bit hypocritical.
  14. I apologize for the jab but that was two times in a row that you ignored or took the exact opposite of what I'd written and twisted it in your own way. There are still plenty of "winners" who don't need to bite, elbow and stamp their opponents in order to win. If you'd be happy with a player who consistently does those things at Everton, I don't see how that isn't accepting violent conduct.
  15. You have to wonder in that quote,(and the opinion is not at all limited to her), what is meant by "he's just like everybody else." My only thought is that it means unintelligent and prone to irrational fear and conspiracy.
  16. And, again, I don't know why you have such difficulty with your reading comprehension, but there's a difference between a fierce competitor who is not a "nice guy" and a dirty player with violent conduct. I already made it clear in this thread that I'm happy with a player who's not afraid to yell, scream and confront another player or a ref. I'm happy with a player who's not afraid of the occasional harsh challenge. Further, winners are arrogant about their ability to win, and I'll accept that all day. Those are not qualities of a Jagielka-style "nice guy." But you're talking about accepting vicious violent conduct, some of which is to gain a clear advantage on the field, as being acceptable if it means winning. I support Everton in part because we are not, and have never been a club that will accept that.
  17. .Agreed. Winning is not everything and, as Paddock turns his nose up at principle, principle matters. Teams can win by cheating and gaining leverage in so many shady ways. Paddock, you sure seem to think principle matters in the Virgil Van Dijk thread, talking about how Liverpool should be reported yet again for tapping him up. How is principle different for player or club?
  18. How is that at all what you took from reading that? I'm saying generally a ref doesn't catch the truly dirty tactics because they're done intentionally away from the eye of the ref. Hard and ill-timed tackles are generally born of aggression and clumsiness - those are the ones that earn red cards. Those and head butts like Big Duncs that are unfortunate and incredibly poorly-judged moments of passion when everyone is watching. The truly morally reprehensible tactics are the shady ones that are done away from the eye of the referee - bites, pinches, elbows, stamps and jabs that are incredibly unsportsmanlike and that players know they'll never be caught for in the moment. You somehow implied that I meant the exact opposite of what I said. And as far as how important Big Dunc was to the team, I'll leave that to those who were supporters at the time to decide, but he still has the second most goals for us in the Premier League era and is top five in goals-to-game ratio of players who have scored more than 10.
  19. Back on topic, Koeman still saying "one or two." http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-boss-ronald-koeman-reveals-13369607
  20. Suarez who didn't get a single red in 110 matches in the Prem. You and I both know most of the dirtier acts on the pitch occur away from the refs precisely because they're intentional. Not a good representation at all of the character of a player. Sendoffs demonstrate clumsiness and desperation more than they indicate a dirty player. And no I'd prefer Suarez never play here. Suarez and Costa could have both easily been sent to jail for assaults. The fact that Ferguson was doesn't make him any different. As good as he was for the club, and it was all before my fandom, I'm glad we haven't had another prominent player with such violent tactics since.
  21. The scariest part is that I'm beginning to believe that the sinister being living insidr of Trump is actually quite intelligent, and strong-arms the vast majority of him which is pure and unadultered moron.
  22. Okay let's just bring in a whole new starting XI then. At a certain point, upgrades stop feeling like upgrades, especially when we have far more pressing needs.
