  1. Gotta love the Shite losing to Swansea.
  2. http://www.evertonfc.com/news/2018/01/12/allardyce-outlines-coleman-comeback-plan No timetable still.
  3. You really thought Trump would raise taxes? Because that's the only way that this could ever be accomplished; there's a very clear reason that American infrastructure is so far behind Western Europe.
  4. The problem with this is that we see this cycle again and again, and it provides firepower for Republicans to get elected. Until we elect two Democrats (or at least non-trickle down Republicans) to two terms successively, we'll see the cycle repeated, and we haven't done that in the 30 years I've been alive. Reagan sent the economy into the toilet, which, I believe, is why H.W. got only one term. Clinton's administration built the economy back up steadily, though during his presidency it didn't look that pretty. Baby Bush destroyed it again, though the economy looked OK for most of his presidency. Obama's administration took the crushed economy, revived it, and now Trump is benefiting from the work done over the previous eight years. Chances are, this tax bill will have dire effects, and whoever takes over in 2021 will have to do the hard work of saving the country from a mini-recession or worse.
  5. My interest in this super bowl disappeared last night. Go Eagles, I guess.
  6. He's not a RB, either, at least at any level above an American middle school recess.
  7. It looks like we have to go on until mid-February unless Sam decides to do the right thing and register Garbutt.
  8. That's the lineup I'd want to see. Maybe Sandro for DCL for a pacey foil.
  9. Not happy about getting this one mostly right.
  10. Sad to see him go as a person but I think it had to happen.
  11. We'll see. I just don't think we've had a clearly defined system all season, and it's manifested itself with pretty much all of our CBs being pretty shit.
  12. I like Kenny but I'm hoping Coleman has a couple more good years in his leg. I don't want Kenny going anywhere, though. He'll be good cover on either side and I think will benefit from playing behind Coleman for a year or two. I also think Keane will be the better option eventually, but Holgate and Williams seem to work well together for now. And as much as I love Baines, I am hoping we replace him with someone a little quicker.
  13. Harsh on Keane. I think he'll come good for us, but hasn't really had a chance to settle under either manager.
  14. I don't think Lookman and Vlasic are better right now. I just think Bolasie is a 28-year old winger who has shown flashes of skill throughout his 6ish years in the PL, but has never really put it together. The other two are 20 years old and need PL experience to get better, and I'd rather them get that experience than see Bolasie continue to frustrate by being almost good enough.
  15. I know stats aren't everything, but I do find these revealing: Gana: http://www.squawka.com/players/idrissa-gueye/stats#performance-score#everton-(current)#english-barclays-premier-league#8#season-2017/2018#819#all-matches#1-23#by-match Schneiderlin: http://www.squawka.com/players/morgan-schneiderlin/stats#performance-score#everton-(current)#english-barclays-premier-league#8#season-2017/2018#819#all-matches#1-23#by-match Gana leads in pass accuracy (while only averaging 2m less per pass), chances created, has a goal (while Schneiderlin doesn't have a shot on target), and has markedly better defensive numbers. I tend to agree that Schneiderlin is a bit better positionally, but Gana usually makes up for that with his workrate, and I just can't agree that Schneiderlin is significantly better in possession.
  16. I really think we need to loan Lookman out. I think there's a very good player in there, but he needs to play somewhere where he can make mistakes a la Dowell at Nottingham. But I agree, as much as I wish it were a completely different picture.
  17. He won't be. It will be Walcott and Sigurdsson on the wings and Bolasie first sub.
  18. Every single aspect? Is that why Walcott has a far better assists to game ratio as well? The biggest thing Ox has on Walcott is youth.
  19. He's been very poor since returning and I'm not sure he showed enough before his injury. I think we've seen his ceiling and it's not good enough. Lookman and Vlasic are young, and given our current position, I'd rather see them get a chance. That said, I'd prefer a loan move for Lookman and that would obviously open up a spot for Bolasie. I'd be a bit disappointed if he was still one of our best options next season.
  20. Not happening, and though he'd no doubt improve us this season and next, wouldn't want him here.
