  1. Either way it was an unfortunate choice of words.
  2. McCain was the best of the worst. He was a war monger, but he could at least admit that he was wrong at times. He occasionally stood up to his principles, but usually backed down when it meant tax cuts or losing favor with his own party (see the tax bill where he gutted the ACA after previously refusing to gut the ACA). Even the quote that keeps getting bandied about from his campaign where he defended Obama seems a little iffy. A woman said Obama was an “Arab,” to which McCain responded: “No. He’s a good man,” as if an “Arab” and “good man” were mutually exclusive.
  3. I’d be really upset if we start shoehorning players into positions that they don’t play again.
  4. Because we’ve shipped out literally everyone else who can play naturally out wide with the exception of Richarlison, Walcott and Bernard. I really prefer to never see DCL or Sigurdsson play out wide again.
  5. Hopefully he enjoys his time here and realizes that it’s a better club than Chelsea.
  6. Radio feed made him sound pretty clunky. What did he do well? (Genuine question.)
  7. Hard to say from the radio feed. Has to go to one of Kenny, DCL, Sandro or Digne though.
  8. Really hoping he’s not Martinez stubborn about defending set pieces. I’m sure they actually practice zonal marking at least, but I don’t think our defenders are smart enough to ever get it.
  9. I agree with the combination of youth/new players. Virginia Kenny Holgate Zouma Digne Davies Gana Bernard Siggy Lookman Tosun Bring Sandro on if we have a lead around halftime and see if he can prove anything. DCL and/or Niasse should get some minutes, too. Not sure if Bernard is comfortable on the right? But if not, it means Walcott is our only right-sided wide player with the exception of Sandro who doesn’t seem to have a good position anywhere, so I hope he is. I think it will be important to keep Siggy in the side as we need someone proven at picking passes if anyone in that squad is going to score.
  10. Pretty entertaining to look back to the beginning of this thread and see how enthusiastic everyone was. I didn’t post as much then, but was equally happy about the signing. For the first couple months he was that player, too. Shows how quickly things can change in football.
  11. The Twitter discussion around wishing Keane well is absurd. Jags didn’t, nor did Walcott or Tosun. That’s as far as I got, but I’d venture to say the majority of the team who have Twitter didn’t wish him well on the platform either.
  12. There was no one in between him and the goal besides the keeper. He likely would have gotten off a clean shot from pretty close to the angle he had scored from not long before. And sure, but we get mad whenever things go against us. I think Baines foul was a pretty clear penalty even though it was a soft one, but plenty here were pissed off about it.
  13. Smith clearly pulls him back and prevents a clear goal scoring opportunity. It wasn’t an egregious foul, but it was a clear red.
  14. He wasn’t playing at left back. Don’t really think we can judge him from that cameo.
  15. I’ve never understood how head collisions can damage one person so much more than another. Keane has a caveman head and Gana’s head is tiny. Physics are weird.
  16. This is such an encouraging match. Last year this exact same side would have put their heads down and moped about after a red. This season, they reacted to the injustice and played even harder, just as they did at Wolves in the first week. Whatever that handsome Portuguese devil is saying to them, I love it.
  17. Never been happier to see someone get sent off.
