Gomes for Schneiderlin “left a lot wanting?” I didn’t understand the Tosun sub and still think DCL might have done better with Tosun’s single opportunity, but that was the only negative I can possibly take from Silva today.

I didn’t mind the kicking it far thing as we couldn’t win a single header in midfield. I think he was worried they’d win a header and create an instant chance because of how easily our CBs get caught napping. The kicking the ball out of play constantly was worrying though.

VVD really was immense. He is by far the best defender in the league, and has to be in the conversation for most important player overall. Wish we had gotten him when we were rumored to be in for him.

Could give it to either fullback for the number of chances they cut out and the level of grit they displayed. Gave it to Coleman on the basis of desire, as he is the only player in the squad who shows how much he cares every time he trots out.

And for all your seeing and statistical evidence (wondering where those came from to be honest), whoscored gave Gana a match rating nearly a point higher than Schneiderlin with 11 more touches, 3-1 in key passes, the assist, etc. Gana’s two dribbles led the team, by the way, and Schneiderlin had 0 if you’re looking to cherry pick stats. The fact remains, Gana played well, got praised, and you’re taking issue with it, because contrary to what everyone else but pete0 and Palfy saw and contrary to what the stats say, you think Schneiderlin played better. The last paragraph was in explicit response to Palfy, hence the part where I quoted him directly above, so not sure what you’re on about there.

Schneiderlin played quietly well beginning with that fantastic pass, which we all gave him credit for, but he was pretty abysmal before the goal, with plenty of comments about ineffectiveness. Gana, on the other hand, consistently moved the ball forward, unafraid to make runs forward where other players (including him in a lot of other matches) would have just passed backwards, had a few great takeaways, and finished the game with two nutmegs and a perfectly weighted assist for a final goal. But we do it after nearly every match, and a good majority of the time you have that same response. At what point are you just happy he’s part of the squad?

Maybe if a couple people stopped bashing him at every single opportunity, one of them even going as far as to say he’s the worst player to play for Everton, we'd stop reveling in his constant demonstrations of proof that they’re full of shit.
