People just forget one thing: you are looking at spending that on a number of players which would increase the wages a lot. If you spend 20 million on a player he expects to get 4-5 million per year, so five of those would mean closer to 20 million per year. And of course picking the right ones is tricky. Liverpool spend lots every year and to what end? Spurs spent and spent and spent and this is the first year they look like they have spent well. The Bale money was mostly wasted.

I don't expect anything big to happen. The best that could happen is a good player on loan. I doubt the owners would sanction any major purchases while there is a good chance of selling the club.

Everyone has been assuming the new owners would be interested in developing the club. That would include building a stadium (200 million+) and giving some money to the manager. Suddenly you are looking at over 500 million. It's a much bigger risk for any buyer. Plus no-one would have thought the three of them would be worth around 150 million half a year ago.

It's a good price if the buyer is out to asset-strip the club and doesn't care what the fans think.
