  1. If Baines has come out and said that there's obviously deeper lying issues within the squad. Under Motes there was always a natural bond that you could see all over the pitch players like Cahill where the integral part of this a long with Moyes himself. The sooner Martinez is gone the better. He's stinking the place out.

Kudos to those of you who have been calling for RM to be gone the past few months. Baines' comments are enlightening and the straw that broke the camels back for me. I am a firm believer chemistry is more important than tactics. Talent, chemistry, tactics. Look at Leicester, look at SAF reign etc. Passion and team spirit are the most important things to me as a fan. Don't have it, don't think it's coming back under RM. RM out.

  2. Late to the party as I dont check in on the weekend. Just two quick notes:

    1. I'm consistently the over-positive one on this board and I will keep that going. These games are why being an Everton fan is so special. Family, atmosphere, effort, courage. When those things combine into one performance I just sit there in complete and sheer delight. I dont want billions of dollars, i dont want diego costa ability, eden hazard ability, john terry ability, mesut ozil ability, yaya toure ability, raheem sterling ability etc. More than anything, more than any trophy, i want players who pull on the blue shirt with pride and show their effort on the pitch. Trophies are short term examples of superiority. Family, atmosphere, effort, courage are lifelong endeavors only the best achieve.

    2. That was the best performance by a match official i can remember. take a bow michael oliver, that was a proper job.

  3. If he goes with 3 at the fucking back again I'm going to be so angry. We. Can't. Play. It. John Stones can't play it! We'd become more solid defensively in recent weeks so why the fuck would you change the whole fucking formation to accomodate a player who looks fucking lost playing said formation?

    I despair, I really do.

Agreed except at this point i think that is completely our opinions. So far with 3 at the back we are outscoring our opponents and keeping a clean sheet. Mirallas put an end to that scoreline and system with his ridiculous play. I hate the system. Hate it. However we have yet to determine if it can be effective for Everton - way too small a sample size.

  4. Only watched bits of the game as had visitors round, got to say it didn't look good.

Seen the half time analysis on lukaku and there is an argument in two cases....

    1. We fanny about with the ball too much... well yeah we know that. The opposition set two banks of 4 and it's a job to get through them.

    2. Lukaku doesn't move very much... at all. Some instances I think he just puts his hand up with a look as if to say "see you are missing me" but the reality is that he's not in a good place to take the ball. Not sure what the non celebration was about, very concerning but unsurprising to me anyway. His head has been off it since new year.

Pleased to hear niasse showed willing and quality.

We need an energetic front line that can break the defence with clever, quick, passing and movement.

Haf touched on it briefly. I wasnt able to watch the game - whats up with Lukaku's non-celebration? Purely frustration from a poor game or more in it? Really dont like seeing that.

  5.

In my opinion, that's absolutely crock of shit. Sorry.

Someone made this on GOT and it's perfect for this sort of explanation.

But some basic football is missing here.

Firstly, there is no one on the posts. Rule 101 of defending set-pieces (especially those that can be scored directly or in-directly from where the placement of the ball is) you have two men covering the farthest reach of a GK, usually the posts. If we'd have had significant coverage on the posts, the goal would NOT have happened.

Secondly, McCarthy isn't tracking his man. It's obvious from his body position that the guy he is marking, is Rondon, he's even got his arm hanging out after realising he's let him get too far away from him. Just not close enough to put pressure on Rondon at all.

Thirdly, although this wasn't instrumental, Oviedo was marking Berahino (?) irrelevant of what happened next, you'd at least want to guarantee that Berahino has no hope of attacking/winning that ball, so why pick the smallest guy of that crop of players to mark him?

And lastly, coming for the ball? It looped up, he was backtracking, his position was set and good (for what would normally be a straight forward stop at that angle) but the ball loops wildly. He's already wrong footed and probably thinking it's going over. Not on Robles that. Although, he could have reacted just a second quicker, maybe could have put Rondon off. But the ball had all but crossed the line anyway.

The ball 99% of the time, on that angle, would be hitting that yellow box....which Joel would have covered in my opinion. The looped header again, was a fluke. It happens.

For me (watch it again), the first header should have been dealt with better by Mori, stepping in front of Olsson but the resulting looped header should not have been met by Rondon really because

    a) James should never have lost him man and

b ) We should have had a man on that post to header it away.

I respectfully disagree with you and Haf. First off i disagree with your premise that defending 101 calls for men on the posts. Absolutely not true and i am not arsed about that at all, plenty of folks support two men on the posts and plenty don't. I would much prefer to have two extra men able to win the header then have them trying to clear the ball off the line after its won by an opponent. McCarthy is irrelevant - ball was in with or without Rondon's influence. Joel was off balance and leaning to come get the ball, im not saying he left his line, but he was caught in two minds. Thats what led to him flailing like a fish as he tried to go collect the ball.

I guess my point is that, having been a defender for 15 years (and im not saying you didnt play - i have no idea), i fully expect my gk to punch that ball over the bar for another corner.

Having said all that, we defend corners like a sieve and its completely embarrassing. Ball never should have gotten to Joel but it did and he fucked up.

  6. Like it or not these games happen. Absolutely battered them and were tremendously unlucky. For me the biggest issues from the match are the same two we have had all season. GK and Kone. Joel absolutely 100% at fault on the goal. Hes in no mans land moving toward a ball he has no business coming for. Looping header in the air for days and ends up in the net. Unacceptable. Howard would be toasted for that and rightly so. Terrible goal to concede. Kone complete and utter disaster. Should have been mirallas. Dont have any issue with Deulofeu for lennon or osman for mccarthy. Cant have 7 attackers need room to break them down, which we did. Just couldnt find the finishing touch.

Attack Bournemouth and advance. Get the win at villa. Massive massive game at Goodison vs West Ham. COYB

  7. Many options, some more realistic than others:

Top 3: CL Group Stage 13 POINTS OFF TOP 3

    4th: CL Qualifier 12 POINTS OFF 4TH

5th: Europa Group Stage 6 POINTS OFF 5TH

Winning FA Cup: Europa Group Stage IN 5TH ROUND

6th/7th: Europa if Man City defeats Liverpool in Capital One Cup Final and/or Champions League Qualifier wins FA Cup

Any position: FIFA Fair Play results UNLIKELY

Did I miss anything or get something wrong?

What do we do from here Blues?

  8. 3 pts absolute must for me. Not so much for the league table but for retribution. I want to see us flying about going up 2-0 and dominating the rest of the way. If i was RM i would have the team sit in the locker room prior to kickoff and show the last 10 mins of the game at Goodison. If the players dont come out firing after that sell them in the summer.

Any chance RM took my advice?
