  1. It made me want to watch Touching the void. I find things like these and decide I want to read more/know more about it and never get around to it.
  2. I like Lady Gaga. I found this fascinating, even if it isn't strictly news. Beware, the link contains images of corpses on Mount Everest. http://imgur.com/a/rkRAk
  3. http://allaboutveganfood.com/2013/10/neil-robinson-taking-veganism-to-the-football-fields.html
  4. It'll be interesting to see whether they ever choose anyone from England based on bloodlines. I remember Roy Keane wasn't too impressed with that last time around.
  5. The necessary surgery for his knee will see him miss the remainder of the season.
  6. Arkham Asylum and Arkham City in this week's Humble Bundle. I adore those games, they're just so well done.
  7. Today there is a conference in London, two of the speakers are from Everton. One is James Smith, Head of Technical Scouting, the other is Steve Tashijan, Head of Sports Science. John Sinnott of CNN has been tweeting the highlights, here is what he's been saying so far: "Everton scout James Smith: "We'd wanted to sign Romelu Lukaku all summer. But it wasn't until Eto'o went to #cfc Everton scout James Smith: "This summer we couldn't buy until we had sold. It was a little bit out of control." #efc Scout James Smith of #efc: "We are not doing regression analysis at the moment as some big clubs are. More basic analytics." #elitesports Everton scout James Smith: "We are looking for undervalued players and young players that have potential. Character important" #efc Everton scout James Smith: "You can have one bad character in the squad, but two or three things can go rapidly downhill" Everton scout James Smith: "Manager Roberto Martinez is very keen on wingers" #efc #EliteSports There will probably be other bits and pieces of information at https://twitter.com/search?q=%23elitesports&src=typd&f=realtime And a bit of self-interest from him: "Everton scout James Smith: "We don't pay enough for staff given how much is spent on transfers and wages" #Elitesports #efc"
  8. I managed to see an advanced screening of the film 'Gravity' tonight. It was pretty good!
  9. I came across this on twitter. Apparently Celtic also have a partnership with Stubhub but Celtic have capped the prices at the original selling fee (+ 15% and delivery). http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-24295564 I'm with the economists in this particular argument, I wouldn't pay that much myself (or offer them at those prices if I had one) but the tickets are available should someone with the inclination and finances want them.
  10. From 2015/16 season onwards, the League Cup and FA Cup runner-up will no longer qualify for Europe when the cup winner otherwise qualifies, instead the European places will be based on league positions.
  11. (When I went to Italy, I visited Lake Garda, Venice, Verona - all culturally significant places, and here I am suggesting to Francesco to take in a Lantern walk ) I asked on Twitter: I received three suggestions... Eat at Il forno (Italian restaurant) Draw blue cocks (blu pene) on Anfield Play mini-golf at Liverpool one
  12. Hello Francesco from Italy! Liverpool is not a very big city, it's possibly not worth hiring a car. On 31 October, it is Halloween so there may be some themed-parties in the city centre. Cirque du Soleil are also performing in the city centre. On 1 November, there is a Lantern walk in Sefton Park (free to watch). It's kind of a mini parade. There are lots of free museums in the city centre, and an art gallery. You can do a stadium tour of Goodison Park http://www.evertonfc.com/club/stadium-tour.html There's also a Safari Park nearby. http://www.knowsleysafariexperience.co.uk/

  15. He's on the back foot in this interview on Channel 4.
  16. Apparently Alex Ferguson's new book says that Bill Kenwright was in a meeting with Moyes and Ferguson, Kenwright was crying over the sale of Rooney and phoned his mother and told her Man Utd were "stealing our boy" and then put her on the phone to Alex Ferguson. Ferguson says he thought it was a negotiating tactic. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/Sir_Alex_Ferguson/10396064/Wayne-Rooney-told-Alex-Ferguson-to-sign-Mesut-Ozil-before-asking-to-leave-book-reveals.html There is also this from a Huffington Post journalist: http://twitter.com/samuelluckhurst/status/392642945997758465 http://metro.co.uk/2013/10/22/sir-alex-ferguson-autobiography-the-best-bits-on-cristiano-ronaldo-wayne-rooney-david-beckham-and-arsene-wenger-4156369/ http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/Sir_Alex_Ferguson/10396024/Alex-Ferguson-savages-former-Manchester-United-captain-Roy-Keane-in-his-extraordinary-autobiography.html
  17. From an Belgian magazine 11 years ago.. guessing who will be the Belgian stars of the future. It's pretty accurate - Lukaku even wearing this year's away shirt. A Belgian magazine published this, this week. It shows pictures of their national team from 2002.
  18. Here is a video of his performance vs. Croatia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ESRf0TaNvw
  19. I was tempted to get it earlier as they have the World cup playoffs.. I'm not paying £15 activation fee though. What a rip-off.
  20. And that he was born in France so you know that is his real age. For context, even Africans refer to footballer's ages as their "african age".
