The result was announced the other night Steve! I voted for Roche, she lost out to James Rodriguez. I think it's kind of silly to have men and women in the same category. Roche had no chance of winning with a goal from the Irish women's league(?), Rodriguez was always going to win it with the volley from the World Cup.

To me, it seemed a case of being frustrated after WBA parking the bus for the entire half and him wanting to do it all on his own. Being linked to Atletico and Dortmund doesn't help. As he missed, there's now a lot of bad will towards him. I think he's marked his card now and will be off either this month or in the summer.

I think it's partly financial. We're not likely to finish in a position that was budgeted for meaning less prize money will be paid. Eto'o also reportedly had a clause in his contract that triggered an extra year's extension of £60k+ wage per week (Express are reporting £100k per week!) after starting three more games. I was surprised when he signed because of the high wages involved, not so much to see him go.
