Wrigley's Extra has signed a deal with the FA Premier League to become the top flight’s official chewing gum partner - a sponsorship that will run until the end of the 2009/10 football season. The focus of the three-year partnership will use the ‘get a little closer’ strapline and will be supported by TV advertising and a PR campaign that will break in April. The partnership includes a presence on www.premierleague.com from the start of the 2007/08 season, including ownership of the virtual goals section. The FAPL deal is Wrigley's Extra first foray in sports sponsorship in the UK. It follows the success of Wrigley's Airwaves sponsorship of GSE Racing's Ducati team in the British Superbikes Championship.

Robo - to our credit... it's only Gavin McCann who's been sold and proven he can play at the highest level. Jevons, Chadwick, Hopkins, Schumacher, Brown, Clarke and possibly Fox and Gerrard (who may be promoted with Walsall) have all been sold and none show that they can cut it at the highest level.

I've seen the incident on EvertonTV and it should not have been a fine of £24,000. Anichebe was a rough going in for a 50/50 with Dudek, Dudek punched out at Vic and then everyone started shoving eachother. No one was seriously hurt. If the FA are going to interfere the money should be given to a more needing source, seeing as both clubs are in the same area the money should have perhaps been given to a local football scheme or charity. If someone walked up to you and broke your leg with a golf club, you wouldn't get 24k of compensation and that is much worse than what went on at the reserve match.
