  1. Lehmann was annoyed with Vaughan because JV jumped at the ball putting his body weight into the attempt.. on the other side of the ball were Lehmann's hands. I reckon if Lehmann if had not pulled out of the attempt he would have broken both wrists. Saying that JV should not have received a booking (referee was correct) as he did intend to get the ball and won it fairly without touching Jens Lehmann.
  2. The ref booked them for timewasting.... celebrated for 2mins of the 3mins extra time.. cant argue with that As I said... who cares... 3points closer to Europe.
  3. Thanks Premiership fan If we do not sign Fernandes it will be a travesty. That little mazy run was fantastic. It's going on my phone when I find it ! Lee Carsley dedicated his man of the match award to Tony Sage (one of the kit men) who has recently lost his wife (or so I think he said).
  4. Everton have been fined by the FA for earning 6 yellow cards in the game against Arsenal. Both Johnson and Anichebe were booked for celebrating the winner. Small price to pay for 3points that could take us into Europe
  5. Wikipedia: Leon Osman is half Turkish-Cypriot with his dad residing in Northern Cyprus. I know it can be edited by the public but football manager also has him down as half turkish.
  6. Liverpool – why do we need it? By Mike Bentley I'VE NEVER had much time for Liverpool and its inhabitants. I'm tired of their forced jocularity and their braying celebrities, all of whom flee to leafy Surrey as soon as the bank account permits. I'm tired of their whining grief addiction and their interminable minute's silences (if, indeed, a minute's silence can be interminable). I'm sick to the back teeth of their self-righteous football fans demanding "Justice for the 96" when any sane person would ask: "What about Justice for the 39?", namely the dead Italians of the Heysel Stadium disaster (And what is this "justice" they demand anyway? Kelvin MacKenzie's head on a stake?). I was therefore unimpressed when the place was awarded Capital of Culture status for 2008. Oh joy - a Beatles theme park, Jimmy Tarbuck's stand-up act projected on to the Liver building, and that thin, bespectacled bloke from the Scaffold reciting bad poetry in front of a tracksuit-clad audience. That'll impress the Europeans. It comes as no surprise then to read that they're already managing to cock the whole thing up. Plans for a new £65million Museum of Liverpool have hit the rocks after the uber-trendy, weird-bearded curators decided that as well as a pair of Roman sandals, the first Ford Anglia built at Halewood, one of the world's oldest locomotives and Yoko Ono's All You Need Is Love counterpane from the Montreal peace bed-in, the museum will also "celebrate" the dark side of Liverpool life. And dark it is. advertisement The poverty, the slave trade, here we go again bloody Hillsborough, the racist murder of Anthony Walker and the appalling saga of the Jamie Bulger case. All suitable entertainment for Japanese tourists, I'm sure you'll agree. Unfortunately none of the black polo neck-clad Guardianistas bothered to mention this to Jamie Bulger's mum, Denise Fergus. They obviously take the view that such public hand-wringing is a cathartic condemnation of the Thatcher Years (even though she'd gone three years previously) and is there for all Lefties to use and abuse as it fits their political agenda. We'll leave the final word to her: "I am boiling with rage. What kind of callous people would think of doing this in the name of art and culture? They must be mad if they think I am going to stand by and watch them do this to the memory of my precious son." And you can't say fairer than that. --- Does he have a point? I keep banging on about this but I think that Newcastle deserved European Capital of Culutre more than Liverpool who need it more to keep up with Jones's.
  7. Any shortfall because of loan payments is likely to be covered by the Chang Sponsorship so it evens out. According to those at the shareholders meeting the loan payments cost £2.7million (fixed payment) a year and the Chang deal brings in around 2million a year so we could be better off by £700,000 a year.. it's the equivalent of having a £2.7million sponsorship deal and kills two birds with one stone.
  8. Actually after further reading.. I've changed my mind about this whole ordeal.. it appears that the Americans have not invested a penny into the club but are in actual fact loaning a lot of money for a new stadium and transfer fees and it looks like the people who are paying for all this are the Liverpool fans. The Americans have effectively purchased the club for free!

  10. He is TC's cousin So is the fitness coach at st helens apparently
  11. Alex read it again.. no money will be changing hands
  12. I call them twixes if more than 2 fingers.. I class a twix as 2 parts.. I evan say half a twix when referring to 1 finger
  13. Rumours are rife in Scotland that the next shirt sponsor of Everton could be Edinburgh's Royal Bank of Scotland. In a bizarre occurrence it is believed that no money will be changing hands, in fact it is said that RBS have offered the club a corporate account with no penalty charges or interest payable in exchange for shirt sponsorship for as long as the club remains in the Premier League. It's thought that deal may have been brokered by Tesco Chief Executive Terry Leahy who has a working relationship with RBS through Tesco Personal Finance which has become very popular and handed RBS a healthy profit of £69 million last year. The Royal Bank of Scotland have been looking into football sponsorship for a while now and it is thought that a club sponsorship deal opportunity has never arisen before - they wanted to sponsor a competition. It seems like a very good partnership for both parties as Evertonians will be happy because a big name company is taking an interest in the club, the club will be happy as the loan payments will decrease and it secures a long term sponsorship, as Everton are very unlikely to be relegated in the near future! Coincidentally(or deliberate?) Everton are sometimes referred to as the Royal Blues - the very colours of the bank's logo and it’s also a none too subtle reference to RBS' royal charter.
  14. He still needs his head testing.
  15. I'm scared of it tbh. When I was younger I had a panic attack thinking about it.
  16. Also interesting how the echo says Liverpool City Council could lose tens of millions of pounds. I think that the cons of developing Goodison park contains a dig about tesco.
  17. It depends on what's going to happen to GP aswell... Would you be happy if the club kept it but turned it into a car park so it'd bring in income from Liverpool fans and Everton fans? Obviously a park and ride system from Goodison to the new stadium
  18. Ah.. I didn't realised he had only started 8 games.. He has made 15 appearances from the bench this season and scored 3 goals in 8 starts. That's not a bad return for a 17yr old but overall 3 goals in 23 games doesn't look too impressive... is that unfair to say swindon_loyal?
  19. Nope... he's obviously an avid TT reader
  20. That was a cracking game between france and scotland.
  21. I've put potential investment in club in italics because it is only 'possible' not a definite.. we could move and find theres no one willing to help us.
  22. Pros New stadium, easier to develop. Possible standing Terraces It will be a centrepiece for a town centre and help regenerate the area. It's only 1500 yards away from 'Liverpool City Boundary' Could act as catalyst for the trams project Knowsley Council are falling over themselves to help us Likely improved commercial facilities Higher dispersion rate (quicker getting away from the stadium after match) Access routes from dual carriageway nearby No restricted views Potential for investment for the club Cons It's not within in 'Liverpool City Boundary'* Stadium will possibly not be owned by the club Some fans will never return to watch Everton in Kirkby Lack of tourists income We will be leaving Goodison Park after 119 years May hinder the Evertonian population not being in Liverpool[/i] Everton are not the major partners in the development, Tesco are * the major factor Please add as many as you can and I will put them here in bulletpoint form and keep it as unbiased as possible. I've also come across this on the echo website: KIRKBY TOWN CENTRE PROS: Comfortably the most viable option at the moment. Knowsley council has found a site just south of the existing town centre, and megabucks Tesco, with Evertonian Sir Terry Leahy at the helm, is involved - so the club would not need to worry too much about the cost. Just four miles from Goodison Park as the crow flies. Close to the M57 and walking distance from Kirkby station. CONS: It's Kirkby. Many supporters cannot bear the thought of moving outside the city boundaries, even by half a mile or so. REBUILDING Goodison PARK PROS: The club's spiritual home. The Old Lady has been home to Everton's biggest triumphs and greatest escapes, and no other ground has a history quite like it. Good bus and train links, plenty of parking in surrounding streets, and lots of fans walk to the ground. Shops in County Road and Rice Lane depend on match-day revenue. Rebuilding on the same site would be a good compromise, maintaining the club's roots while bringing in modern facilities. CONS: No space. Goodison is surrounded by a road, rows of terraces and a primary school. Rebuilding would be a major logistical problem - the ground might even have to be rotated. Would there be room for a big supermarket and shops next door to bring in private money? CENTRAL DOCKS / STANLEY ABATTOIR / OLD SPEKE AIRPORT PROS: The three Liverpool sites most frequently mentioned. All large brownfield areas which the council wants to see developed, with plenty of room for shops, hotels etc. Would keep Everton inside the city boundaries, so Liverpool would not lose tens of millions of pounds a year to a neighbouring borough. CONS: All surrounded by uncertainty. The council might want Everton to stay in the city, but without the backing of a firm like Tesco, schemes will struggleto get off the ground. SWITCH ISLAND PROS: Lots of room right next to the M57 for shops and parking, as well as a big stadium. Peel Holdings, owned by Matalan supremo John Hargreaves, is behind the plan - so money would not be a problem. CONS: Where do you start? The site is green belt land, so a lengthy public inquiry is a near certainty, potentially causing years of delays. Residents in nearby Melling do not want it. And nor does Sefton council, which last week decided to tell Peel Holdings that the development would not be welcome.
  23. The council leader said that the club never enquired about it. He could be lying about it but he has said if he was found to have been lying he'll resign. It's been in dispute since 2004 mate, the liverpool city council cant just say to knowsley council that they want this piece of land to be in their boundary. There has been a campaign to rename Merseyside region but because people on the outskirts don't want to be part of 'Greater Liverpool', they'd like to remain as 'Merseyside' it's gone nowhere. I go to the game on the train and walk up from Kirkdale station. I admit Kirkby station is closer and more conveniently located but travelling time would be cancelled out as its a longer travel on train. It would allow them to, but they could also see Tranmere Rovers. Not unheard of but not very likely. I fear we'd miss out on a lot of attendees for the games. If you were to go to Barcelona who would you want to see Barcelona at the Nou Camp or Espanyol at the Nou Sarria? In my opinion it's going to become like that situation if we move.
  24. It's actually pretty good You need a hard drive and a way of connecting your xbox 360 to the internet (an ethernet cable and/or a router will do). £60 a year is steep though.. I'd wait until the ps3 comes out because they are probably going to lower XBL prices to compete
