  1. You'd be best asking on a Swindon board Swindon seem to have had a few prospects recently Leigh Mills, Lukas Jutkiewicz and the above Ben Tozer
  2. I would not be too surprised if the BBC and ITV jibbed it this year. They may not think it is worth them spending all that money to show the games when their home country isn't participating. To be fair, they all look like hard groups.
  3. A few new magazines out this year in time for the c-word.. No not that one.. the other one. http://www.merseysho...?category_id=89
  4. Walton Hall Park has been ruled out Warren Bradley - ""I personally think public parks are there for leisure and enjoyment, but we’re in a position now where Stanley Park is being used and Evertonians are saying ‘Why can't we use Walton Hall Park?’ But I don’t believe two wrongs make a right. I think Chinese whispers have happened where people have said ‘Warren Bradley obviously doesn’t care’ but people who know me and how passionate I am about the city and Everton FC under-stand this wouldn’t have hap-pened if I’d been tipped off earlier. The tip off I got was Everton were talking to Knowsley and at that point I got Everton in and we did some work on sites – that was the least I could do. Everton then moved forward. Before Christmas, me and Bill Kenwright didn’t know each other. Me and Bill Kenwright now are seeing each other and our relationship is going from strength to strength. And he knows exactly what I want to achieve – Everton FC is fully aware of what Liverpool city council wants to achieve. I want the club to stay in the city because I think it’s an integral part of city life. This is Liverpool’s 800th birthday and we’ve been talking a lot about heritage – and Everton is part of that heritage. I don’t see any reason why Goodison Park can’t be redeveloped. You could quite easily fit an additional footprint and some commercial activity – a hotel, for example – into a new development.” I think what will probably happen is that Liverpool will move forward with its new stadium and Everton will probably end up playing at a new stadium . . . in North Liverpool, although I think South Liverpool is the best site – no two ways about it. "
  5. It looks like a hybridge Emirates and City of Manchester stadium to me.

  9. http://www.uefa.com/uefa/keytopics/kind=64...sid=630602.html Between 2009 and 2012, some 22 teams will qualify directly for the UEFA Champions League group stage instead of 16, and the UEFA Champions League final will be played on a Saturday, under format changes agreed by the UEFA Executive Committee at its meeting in Lucerne, Switzerland, on Friday. Group stage unchanged There will be no changes to the main part of European club football's most prestigious competition, which will continue to feature 32 teams split into eight groups of four in the group stage, followed by the knockout phase. The eight sides that finish in third place in their groups will move into the knockout phase of the UEFA Cup – which also has an amended format. Access list However, the UEFA Champions League access list between 2009 and 2012 will change accordingly: 22 teams go through directly to the group stage instead of 16. The six additional clubs will be the third-placed sides from the associations ranked between 1 and 3 in the ranking list, and the champions of countries ranked from 10 to 12. Qualifying routes Ten teams will qualify through a double qualifying route – one is reserved for the champions of the associations ranked from 13 to 53, with the exception of Liechtenstein. Five clubs will qualify via this route. The other path is reserved for the non-champions of associations rated between 1 and 15. Saturday final The final from 2009/10 will be played on a Saturday, in the same week of the year as now, kicking off at 20.45CET. Matches in the first knockout round, featuring 16 clubs, will be split over four weeks instead of two, using dates reserved for UEFA club competitions in February and March. The third qualifying round will be marketed centrally by UEFA. Great competition "We are all of the opinion that this is a great competition which provides a considerable spectacle," said UEFA President Michel Platini. "The Executive Committee has unanimously adopted one of three proposals. I wanted more democracy in the access list, and the Executive Committee has understood this message. Good for football "I think that the decision which has been taken, in particular to spread the first knockout round over four weeks, is good for football, because it gives an added value to these matches," he added. It is also hoped that playing the UEFA Champions League final on a Saturday will give families, especially children, the chance to see the game. UEFA Cup format The UEFA Cup between 2009 and 2012 will feature 48 sides, split into 12 groups of four; the top two teams in each group will qualify for the knockout phase and be joined by the eight clubs that finish the group stage of the UEFA Champions League in third place. The knockout stage, with 32 sides and four rounds, will lead to the final, played in a single match at a neutral venue. The first round – currently knockout – will become part of the qualifying phase. Title-holders Only the title-holders will qualify directly for the UEFA Cup group stage, with all other clubs having to qualify. The qualifying process will consist of four rounds, with 37 additional slots compared to the present situation, to accommodate sides that currently qualify for the UEFA Intertoto Cup (from the associations ranked 9 to 15 and 22 to 51, except Liechtenstein). Losing teams in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round and third qualifying round will move into the UEFA Cup fourth qualifying round and group phase respectively. Thursday night UEFA Cup ties will be played on a Thursday night – or on a Wednesday night during exclusive UEFA Cup weeks – with two kick-off times, in principle at 19.05 and 21.05CET. The final will take place on a Wednesday at 20.45. UEFA Intertoto Cup abolished Under the format decisions, the UEFA Intertoto Cup, UEFA's summer competition which has provided places in the UEFA Cup, will be abolished. No changes have been made to the format of the UEFA Super Cup, the game that brings together the UEFA Champions League winners and UEFA Cup holders, but this will now be sold in the same commercial package as the UEFA Champions League.
  10. Pat's a spark so I wouldn't be too surprised to hear that he's rigged up his lights to a streetlamp
  11. It seems that way? I think he signed for around £200,000 and from judging by match reports - he never seemed to get his Oldham form here..
  12. http://www.worldsoccer.com/editor/ If FIFA had imagined the worse thing that could happen, from a PR perspective, in the build-up to Sunday’s World Cup draw, the chances are that a friend of Franz Beckenbauer being shot dead in South Africa would be pretty high on the list of potential calamities. FIFA has tried to play down the death of Pieter Burgstaller, a former Austria Salzburg goalkeeper who was shot on a golf course near Durban, as having no connection with the World Cup. Burgstaller was a “tourist who was not a member of the delegation coming for the draw,” said FIFA president Sepp Blatter. Yet 43-year-old Burgstaller was in South Africa for this week’s Soccerex conference and had reportedly been offered tickets for the World Cup draw by Beckenbauer when they bumped into each other last week. So whether FIFA likes it or not, the world will associate Burgstaller’s murder with the 201 World Cup. Irrespective of the true facts and figures on South Africa’s crime rate, the seeds have now been sown in many people’s minds of South Africa as a country riddled with violent crime. Forget stadiums, forget transport, forget hotels. Security will be the major concern in the countdown to 2010. The danger now facing FIFA is that the World Cup organisers will resort to Apartheid-style policing – of which, let’s face it, the South African security forces have considerable experience. Whole areas of the country will be deemed no-go in a bid to persuade fans that the country will be safe to visit in 2010. And instead of the celebration of Africa that the 2010 World Cup promised to be, we’ll get a sanitised, whites-only tournament attended exclusively by those wealthy enough to pay for their own security.

  16. If a stadium is built on scotland road, it won't look like that picture. The picture is something that Keioc designed (I think). HOK, the company who say a stadium can be built there are expected to release pictures of stadiums in their portfolio on the loop site in the next few weeks.

  18. I don't want him to go anywhere, he's a scorer of important goals, raised the club profile with his exploits for scotland and whenever he is interviewed on television he speaks nothing but sense.
