  1. Here is a map of the parking restrictions map: http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/9518/pa...rictionsey9.png This is one of the reasons why Liverpool and Sefton are opposing the scheme as their areas will be full of parked cars with no benefit to their area.
  2. Hello all.. I'm pleased to announce that we are back This is what happened Due to the Chelsea game a lot of people were taking an interest in the site and the Evertonian opinions this led us to surpassing the bandwidth limit for the first time. It wasn't easy to get the site going again due to us having lost contact with Jon (Z-Cars) and it wasn't as simple as requesting an extra gigabyte here or there. The hosts would not speak to me about upgrading the bandwidth as the hosting account had nothing to do with me (it was all in Jon's name). We've had to create our own account and move the site over to here, the site is now fully independent We've had a slight boost in bandwidth too, we now have 20gb and not 15gb. As always we'll keep ToffeeTalk advert free.
  3. Killed himself with a drug overdose.. I didn't see that coming. He was one of my favourite actors.
  4. The plans for those who wish to travel by train in Kirkby are in for a huge disapointment. This is best scenario for those who wish to travel home on train after the game the example given is Saturday 3pm Kick Off. 16.55 Match ends; 17.10 First 1000 fans depart - 3000 waiting in the rain........for the next train 17.25 Next 1000 depart - 2000 waiting in the rain.......for the next train 17.40 Next 1000 depart - 1000 still waiting............for the next train 17.55 Final 1000 get away. Shambles.. it truly is.
  5. It was in the Independent. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn41...24/ai_n16798323
  6. I don't know the other two, but it is Charlie Nicholas.. it was on a Echo journo's website
  7. There's at least two loans One of £20million from earlier this season (the Manny/Yak fund) I think he is personally accountable for a loan of £30million if Everton can't pay it (the one based on season ticket sales over 25years). £55million is repayable
  8. Interesting read here: http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/07-08/comm...bmissionID=5419 It turns out it is Grosvenor's Consultant Architect who is spearheading the loop campaign despite the Daily Post saying Grosvenor oppose it!
  9. On Talksport this morning (well yesterday now..) Keith Wyness was on air.. http://www2.talksport.net/index.asp?id=101539&c=&t=
  10. Everyone seems to be thinking that the stadium has to fit within the loop island, according to the picture released by Keioc (they should know seeing as it is their scheme) indicate that the site needs to be lemon shaped with a platform over the road for pedestrians.
  11. I add my congratulations to my noble friend Lord Harrison on securing this debate, as next month Liverpool approaches the opening of a year's activities and initiatives celebrating European Capital of Culture. I declare an interest in that my mother's family is the Moores family; I refer especially to my late grandfather, Sir John Moores, who was instrumental in developing cultural life on Merseyside over many years. He initiated the John Moores exhibition to encourage young artists and to promote art outside London. That exhibition alternated each year with the Peter Moores exhibition at the Walker Art Gallery; remarkably, 2008 is the 25th John Moores exhibition, celebrating 50 years of encouragement to aspiring artists. The Moores family were also instrumental in bringing the Tate to Liverpool and in helping the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Today, James Moores and his sister Portia have raised the bar in artistic activities on Merseyside, reinvigorating the John Moores exhibition and initiating the biennial. I also pay tribute to other leaders who have tirelessly promoted Liverpool: Loyd Grossman, chairman of Culture Northwest and of National Museums Liverpool, who spearheaded, with Dr David Fleming, a £68 million development programme for the museum; Bryan Gray, chairman of the Northwest Regional Development Agency; Warren Bradley, leader of the council; Phil Redmond, the entrepreneur; and many others. Liverpool 08 will use culture to transform national and international perceptions of Merseyside. It is the first opportunity since 1990 for a British city to host the European Capital of Culture. It will happen; it will be fantastic; it will be delivered on time and on budget. Liverpool will be a credit to the nation and to Europe and Liverpool 08 will be a catalyst for the city's regeneration, both in buildings and in institutions. National Museums Liverpool, which includes the Walker Art Gallery, the Merseyside Maritime Museum, the Lady Lever Art Gallery, the National Conservation Centre, the new International Slavery Museum, among others, and the Liverpool and Merseyside record offices and St George's Hall have all benefited from over £100 million of spending. Liverpool's tourism infrastructure will also be enhanced with developments such as the Liverpool One shopping centre. Liverpool has already gone from being 16th to the fifth most visited city since winning the bid. Visitor numbers at the National Museums have already risen from 700,000 in 2001 to almost 1.7 million this year. Liverpool 08 is not just about buildings; it is also about rebuilding communities. At the heart of Liverpool 08's contribution to the Cultural Olympiad will be the flagship Portrait of a Nation initiative, a campaign run by the Liverpool Culture Company. Liverpool is also the centre of the pools industry, whose influence on British culture has helped to make football our national game. Merseyside celebrates two of the greatest football clubs, Everton and Liverpool; it is regrettable that Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney, respectively from Liverpool and Everton, were missing extensively throughout England's failed campaign for Euro 2008. Nevertheless, 2008 celebrates 80 years since Everton's Dixie Dean's unsurpassed record of scoring 60 goals in a season, which will be remembered through biographical plays and events. Everton Football Club will celebrate 130 years of success and the Football League will be 120 years old. Liverpool 08 is not just good news for the people of Merseyside; it is also good news for the north-west. Cheshire will host the Cheshire Year of Gardens 08, which has been mentioned, with a year of programmes building on the success of the Royal Horticultural Society's July event at Tatton Park and its partnership development with Ness Botanic Gardens. I am sure that the Minister will join us tonight in recognising and promoting Liverpool 08 as an event of national significance. The Government have been instrumental in funding and attracting support and will continue to work hand in hand with the Liverpool Culture Company, the council and their partners to deliver the best ever European Capital of Culture. I congratulate the support shown by DCMS. I encourage it to see what more it could give and especially to look at ways in which to answer the council's request to capitalise £20 million of revenue funding to avoid public sector funding restrictions. DCMS must also encourage other departments to support Liverpool 08, as the programme touches on many broader themes, such as regeneration, health, education, neighbourhoods, crime, diversity and youth policy. I encourage DCMS, with the Government Office for the North West, to co-ordinate a programme of ministerial visits to Liverpool throughout the year. It will be an experience to savour.
  12. I thinkit is an interesting topic. There are plans afoot to relay and reactivate the railway line in Waterloo Tunnel which means there will be three extra local stations to the loop site. Vauxhall (Central Dock) on the Northern line (Kirkby, Ormskirk, Southport and Central/Hunts Cross) Between Edge Hill and Vauxhall station: Scotland Road (opposited JMU) London Road (Norton Street) So much potential for that site.
  13. The club are making are still going ahead with their plans to make a pink shirt however only 1000 are to made. The reason for the delay is the club are waiting for confirmation from the Football Association that the shirts can be sold although they are not expecting any problems. They are hoping to release them towards the end of February.
  14. Firstly, apologies for dredging this ol' thread back up but the loop excites me. Something to do with squeezing into a tight space really does it for me. Joking aside... I really believe that this could be fantastic. I remember how SFX were partners for Kings Dock because they wanted to make a world class arena with us, I wonder whether they'd still be interested ? In the words of Newcastle's manager "I would love it".. the Liverpool Echo Arena is 10,000 all seater.. our stadium will be at least 55,000 seater, that's over twice the size of G-Mex in Manchester. We could pull in the best acts around and have the world class stadium we (well... I) have been longing for. I've also discovered that there are plans for several more railway stations on the Northern line, two include - Vauxhall and Scotland Road. In the words of Keith Wyness "this will be the best served stadium for transportation in the North West". excitement over.
  15. What did the presenter say to you? I don't listen to Merseyside that much. I think with Spurs though is that half of the journos down south are supporters of them so they're not likely to rip into them, they're bound to talk them up. The same goes for West Ham.
  16. I was waiting to see how long it would take before somebody doubts it. It's a sad state of affairs when we automatically presume it's tree, it shows how much faith is given to those with control of the club in my opinion!
  17. I think it states that the £40million for 10 years is for a new stadium somewhere. It doesn't represent good or bad business.. more middle of the road. I think a lot of people would be upset if Goodison is renamed though.
  18. Put in the windows recovery disc and do a system restore.. it should be as good as new then. The problem is if you sell it to someone who knows what they are doing, they could recover the documents even though you have taken them off the hard drive.
  19. If it makes you feel any better Noddy (read the text beneath your name incidentally ) I've requested him to be added to Football Manager (I help with research) so he should be in there with the new patch that comes out next month. Does he have a pro deal?
  20. It's interesting that the club are looking at this option, it seems to raise doubts over their original stadium move. Maybe the club are looking to redevelop Goodison and then change it's name to something like Chang-Everton Park in the future. This has happened at other clubs when a stadium has been knocked down and completely rennovated. The Chang men seem to like the phrase Chang-Everton, that's what they named a thai football academy and a village in thailand that was destroyed by an eathquake.
  21. EVERTON to sell naming rights to new home Everton will no longer play at Goodison Park even if they stay at their home since 1892. Club bosses are set to sell the naming rights of the new Blues home and current shirt sponsors Chang are front-runners for the honour, with a figure of £40million being touted for a 10-year deal. http://www.sundaymirror.co.uk/sport/columnists/themole/
  22. Steveo.. I actually think that the amount of people who drive to the home games will decrease if it is a city centre stadium. Why? I hear you ask... From where I live (Wirral - one third of season ticket holders live here), If I chose to drive I'd have the inevitable petrol to pay for, tunnel fare to pay, parking place to find and pay for (try parking for free in the city centre! - I lived there for two years, it's practically impossible). I'd much rather get a bus or train direct that will cost a bit less and be less hassle? I imagine people in Liverpool would do the same, get a bus or train direct to city centre (they all seem to there). Would you ever consider getting the train from Warrington to Lime street as opposed to drive if it was a city centre stadium?
