  1. Randomness, apparetnly the demand is not there for a 6 carriage train at Goodison Park (but it will be at Kirkby!) Funny you should say that SteveO, I've just read a report from 1998 saying that Everton should look into doing it!
  2. I think Spurs and Villa have the best chance to break into the top 4 in that order. I can see us battling with those and Man City for a UEFA Cup spot.
  3. If for whatever reason Kirkby doesn't go ahead (I'm not dropping hints, it's hypothetical) would you encourage the club to look into reopening the Walton and Anfield Railway station for matchday use for fans? Maybe it could be renamed to 'Goodison Park railway station' and have an Everton theme similar to St. James' Park Metrolink station in Newcastle. Location: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=33...p=newsearch.srf I ask because LFC are looking into it for their new stadium and there is apparently public funding available for it. I know at the moment it sounds far fetched but it could mean direct trains to Goodison from as far as Warrington Central. Warrington Central - Sankey for Penketh - Widnes - Hough Green - Halewood - Hunts Cross - Liverpool South Parkway - West Allerton - Mossley Hill - Edge Hill - Goodison Park I guess in a few years time there will be new stations such as Tue Brook and Wavertree which will be ideal for fans living in those areas.
  4. I'm willing to put down a challenge..... For each appearance Van Der Meyde puts in a premier league we delete one of your high scores on the Arcade
  5. He won man of the match apparently - I've heard that he didn't much time off at all during the summer because he is wanting to play for the first team on a regular basis.
  6. http://blogs.notw.co.uk/sport/2008/07/moyes-payday.html By ANDY DUNN DAVID MOYES has started talks on a new five-year deal that will catapult him into the top six Premier League earners. The Everton boss has just one season left on his current contract but chairman Bill Kenwright hopes to announce the fresh agreement over the next couple of weeks. AJ sits out friendly defeat. Click here for the full story http://nowwebuat-dev.wpng.newsint.co.uk/ce...ue_024.phpMoyes will collect around £3million a year, putting him behind only elite earners such as Luiz Felipe Scolari, Arsene Wenger, Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafa Benitez. It will be a double-your-money package for popular boss Moyes, who will commit himself to the Merseyside club until 2013. And it will end speculation that Moyes, 45, is unhappy with the limited funds available for him to spend in the transfer market. 250davidmoyesIndeed, those funds will be boosted this week when Moyes finally sanctions the transfer of striker Andy Johnson. And Sport of the World understands that West Ham are preparing to hijack a proposed switch to Wigan by tabling a £11m bid for the England striker. As we revealed back in October of last year, Johnson, 27, is clearly destined for the Goodison Park exit door. Wages The frontman has not even renewed his executive box for the upcoming season. And Latics boss Steve Bruce, who was in charge of the striker at Birmingham, seemed to be in pole position to land AJ after privately agreeing to stump up £10m and meet the player’s £50,000-a- week wages. But West Ham manager Alan Curbishley will now enter the race after convincing the Upton Park board that £11m on Johnson would be money well spent. Moyes is willing to let Johnson go — as long as he is given the cash to strengthen his squad. The Scot has not had a great deal of success in the early stages of his player hunt. He is still keen on Tottenham’s misfit striker Darren Bent but is baulking at the £12m asking price. And last week, he tried to intercept Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva but found the Brazilian had already committed himself to Greek side Panathinaikos. Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher remains a target but, with Red Devils boss Ferguson not forcing out the midfielder, Moyes believes the Scotland international will stay at Old Trafford. Yet Moyes will renew his pursuit of new recruits in earnest once he has put pen to paper on his own deal. Neither the manager — who has been at Goodison Park for six years since joining from Preston — nor the chairman expect any late hitches and the new contract should be rubber-stamped within the next fortnight.
  7. It's a fascinating read to be honest. Interesting point about Bill Kenwright, is it true he loaded the club with debt when he bought it?
  8. That's good, I moaned to him the other day that it wasn't being given any coverage
  9. Apparently, the parking areas at Goodison Park are actually about to undergo serious change in the next few months - I don't think it will be announced by the club until the season starts (and season tickets have been sold!), another reason they are keeping quiet is they could be expecting LFC to pay for it to be reopened without offering a contribution. The resident parking restrictions will be made bigger to discourage people from driving to the game. There has been talks about opening Pall Mall near Old Hall Street during match timesto be able to cope with demand with a shuttle bus to the game. Personally I'm unaffected by the changes as I only ever travel by train when I do go. Some people are looking at the re-opening of the Bootle line as a way of reducing travel by car. That's the line that the LFC stadium will require if they want to expand Stanley Park stadium. Revised Parking plans - http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/Images/tcm21-120563.pdf Old article in Post - http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverp...64375-20042039/ Having said that, even with the new restrictions in place it will still be better suited than Kirkby
  10. In simple terms..... A school in Walton will be closing down within 3 years and is being merged with another. Warren Bradley said if Everton commit to a redeveloped Goodison then it will be Gwladys Street primary school that goes. A lot of houses are owned privately and some are owned by a housing association, the value of the houses in total comes to around £8million. Scrapyard is apparently owned by the council but is let to the business. The logistics arn't that bad, the biggest problem is finding the residents a new home which would take up to a year. The new bullens road stand could be built where the existing houses are and when it is ready the pitch could be rotated so that it is behind the goal meaning Park End/GwladysStreet could be redeveloped.
  11. I don't know much about him but he favours of the KEIOC campaign so I imagine the loop and Goodison developments. LCC have told Everton they can have land around Goodison Park to expand and have said the loop that should be an option. Bill Kenwright has confirmed that an ESCLA meeting last week.
  12. You're not missing anything.. 20% of shareholders. 1 in 5. That is achievable. The fact that the Echo and Post have not mentioned it doesn't help though.
  13. Scary isn't it? I don't understand why the club are 'shrugging off' an EGM though. It's a bit cocky isnt it?
  14. I remember hearing rumours at the time that Rooneys agent had been threatened by some pro boxer about it.
  15. I don't agree with you there Ste. Kings Dock from what I remember did have some traffic problems and Joe Anderson (the labour councillor) was very vocal about them. However I genuinely believe that Scotland Road is the best choice for Everton, I don't understand why you say that it will be on a par with problems at the Kings Dock. Having said that, it's not very fair to say Kings Dock has problems at the moment. It's mainly to do with the fact that the nearest railway station is James Street (plans are underway to build a station near the arena) and that The Strand is under going major roadworks. Once these problems are rectified it may flow more easily. Don't forget the new bus depot is right by Albert Dock now so the problems wouldn't be that bad surely. The biggest problem with Scotland Road as during the construction phase, the tunnel may need to be closed whilst building work goes on. After that it's plain sailing, there are five nearby railway stations and two bus depots and parking available in the city centre (including Pall Mall which doesn't usually open on weekends). The club have never admitted it, it's just in the planning documents.
  16. I just think that there are better options out there especially at the £4m valutation. Only today Arsenal were linked with Milito's Zaragoza team mate Zaperta for a similar price.

  18. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/everton-fc/...00252-21303443/ He could be replaced by Darren Fletcher
  19. http://www.knowsley.gov.uk/resources/22310...dCapacities.pdf I don't what you mean by an official infrastructure study. Steer Davies Gleave have made a transport plan but last I heard Merseytravel said it was out of the question because they don't have enough buses. Keith Wyness stated it was a "work in progress" two months ago: http://www.destinationkirkby.co.uk/cms/ass...2_-_minutes.pdf I'll see if I can find the original Merseytravel report again. The only to the story I know about Merseytravel not having enough buses if is on the KEIOC website but I know that won't satisfy you Some further info on toffeeweb here about the transport arrangements: http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/07-08/comm...bmissionID=4675 The guy called Tom Hughes was involved with the Merseytram project so knows a fair bit about Kirkby's infrastructure through that. The inconvenience is all the waiting around for the train/walking to the parked cars 2km away thanks to the resident parking scheme
  20. Man City have always been in Manchester, the City. Man Utd come under Trafford MB Council. The major difference between that and Everton moving to Kirkby is that Old Trafford opened in 1910 and the infrastructure surrounding the stadium has had 98 years of incremental improvements to be able to cope with demands of the cricket ground and football ground. With Kirkby we're starting from scratch and the inconveniences involved in getting to Kirkby (bare in mind the capacity is 50,401) is enough to put a lot of fans off going. I agree with you that they're part of Liverpool (I used to think Skem was in Liverpool!) but the ways of transporting a mass of people is not there in all towns we consider Liverpool.
  21. I wonder where Victor's taste in fashion came from?
