  1. The EGM has been confirmed and has been scheduled for the 3rd September.
  2. I've not got a bad word to say about David Moyes, Bill Kenwright is seemingly stuck between a rock and a hard place and Keith Wyness has stated things that were never likely to become reality. We are going to have to agree to disagree on this DangerMouse. You see the call in as a catastrophe whilst I see it as a fresh opportunity. We have a new CEO who may be more willing to speak to Liverpool City Council with a view to upgrading Goodison Park or moving towards the city centre which in my opinion are the more sensible options.
  3. Are you suggesting that the club could have lied when they said they were not linked to the new project?
  4. I'm in the opposite corner to yourself - no surprise there hey! . I'm confident of a call-in but not 100% (maybe around 60%). There are people high up at Knowsley Council who have spoken out against it, some of whom have lost their jobs since speaking out. The final submission for the transport plan was in my opinion inadequate, the government are trying to encourage green solutions for stadiums at the moment and this one is largely car reliant (despite the nearest car parks being 30-45minute walk away). Too many local councils oppose it, private companies like Grosvenor, Aintree Racecrouse, Bootles shopping centre (The Strand?) and St. Modwens oppose it. Tesco have led the development and they've said to the government "we know it breaks planning legislation but we will bring jobs to Kirkby", the residents opposing the development have said that the jobs created will be of lower quality than those they are replacing from surrounding areas. If the planning application is approved the precedent will be set which will allow Tesco to build what they liked because they say they will bring jobs to the area. Because of competition laws it'll allow Asda, Morrisons, Co-op and Somerfield etc. to do the same. The Tesco jobs are not guaranteed to Kirkby residents for any longer than x months. I think it was 6 months from the top of my head. Part of the application is that the existing shops in the area get an upgrade but this won't be until 2012/2014 and even then it isn't guaranteed that they will be spruced up. Plus CABE have dismissed the plans as a "lost opportunity" and have recommended a public inquiry.
  5. I'd imagine Green is all for it as he could open his arcadia stores there (Topshop, Dorothy Perkins etc.) and make a bit of cash out of it
  6. The stadium decision is expected to be announced tomorrow.. it could be called in delaying it up to a year/killing it or it could not which would see stadium construction begin pretty much immediately (it's already behind schedule). If it's not announced don't be complaining
  7. He's one for the future.. he's in Swedens youth team and was top scorer in a recent tournament
  8. Pienaar's best mate and defensive midfielder.. it's just my suspicion based on Kenwright's comments on Sky (he saw someone play recently who impressed him).
  9. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle4467155.ece Everton’s troubled pre-season took another twist yesterday when it emerged that Keith Wyness, the former chief executive, quit Goodison Park last month because of the growing influence of Sir Philip Green, the retail magnate, on the club. Wyness was linked with a similar role at Real Mallorca, but while he visited the Balearic island after parting company with Everton, it was for a showdown meeting with Robert Earl, the Planet Hollywood founder who owns 23 per cent of the Merseyside club, and Green, who has consistently denied any financial involvement in them. Wyness had become increasingly concerned by Green’s input at Everton. Financial information about the club was regularly passed to the billionaire, who has no official role at Goodison, and club officials have been summoned to conferences with Green at the headquarters of Bhs, which Green owns, in London to discuss strategy. After leaving the club, Wyness went to Majorca, where an acrimonious meeting took place. The two sides failed to agree on a severance package and Wyness is believed to be planning to take Everton to an industrial tribunal. In the aftermath of Wyness’s departure, there were suggestions that the chief executive had stood down because of controversy surrounding Everton’s desire to move from Goodison Park to a new stadium in Kirkby, outside the Liverpool city boundary, or concerns about the financial future of the club. However, the sole reason for Wyness’s resignation was his disquiet over Green’s influence. Green has a longstanding relationship with Bill Kenwright, the Everton chairman. He turned down the opportunity to buy a stake in the club two years ago, recommending Earl as a buyer instead. It has been a summer of turmoil on all fronts at Everton. The club expect to hear later in the week whether their plans to relocate to Kirkby will be subject to government review. Should the £400 million scheme, in conjunction with Tesco, be called in for further scrutiny, it could hold up the move for at least a year — or even kill the project completely. Wyness was the driving force behind the plans to leave Goodison, although Everton deny that his departure will have any effect on the situation. It has been a frustrating close season for David Moyes. The manager has been unable to bring in any new players and has expressed his anger at his inability to strengthen the squad. With money short, Moyes has been forced to sell Andrew Johnson, whose protracted move to Fulham should be completed today despite concerns raised by the London club about an old knee injury after the striker’s medical. The initial fee is likely to be about £5 million, after some renegotiation over the structure of the transfer, although Everton could still receive up to £13 million, depending on the player’s success at Craven Cottage. Sporting Lisbon’s £16 million valuation of João Moutinho is prohibitive, although Moyes remains eager to land the Portugal midfield player, as well as Stéphane Mbia, Rennes’s £5 million-rated Cameroon midfield player. Any move for Diego Milito is likely to hinge on the Johnson deal going through and Real Zaragoza lowering their valuation of the Argentina striker, 29. For Wyness, the future is equally uncertain. Reports that he was to take up a new role with Mallorca were premature. The £40 million sale of the Spanish club to Paul Davidson — the pipe-fitting tycoon known in City circles as “The Plumber” — is still in its early stages and may not be completed for a number of weeks. Although Davidson and Wyness are old friends, there is no job offer on the table and the former Goodison chief executive is furious at suggestions that he was working on behalf of Davidson while employed by Everton.
  10. He gave an interview to Radio Merseyside, he said he's brought in new marketing and a new corporate head. He said he's been in the job for 48 hours (he was on holiday apparently) which leads me to ask who was in charge last week when Wyness was off!?
  11. Citytalk reckon we have bid £3million for him
  12. Rubecula, I don't know how much land the club owns around Goodison Park, the Liverpool City Council have tried to contact the club to discuss it but have been rebuffed a few times. This is the content of an email sent to all Liverpool Councillors and MPs: I disagree with you on the piecemeal (I think "incremental" sounds better than piecemeal, piecemeal sounds like something just tossed together for the sake of it ) basis though, I would rather the club take on smaller more manageable loans for building any new stadium sections. It may cost more in the long run but it is lower risk. Examples of stadiums developed on an incremental basis include Old Trafford, Villa Park, St. James Park and Croke Park.
  13. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/otherspor...ostock-row.html With all the stories coming out at once about Green's involvement, I think it is fair to say he is heavily involved in EFC now.
  14. Expect a few more articles like this in the wake of the EGM showing how good Kenwright is. He is under pressure at the moment with the lack of transfers and the stadium move, Wyness left so he has no fall guy this time if anything goes 'wrong'- although this hasn't stopped the press from trying, did we ever have a survey about Michael Dunford's performance conducted by the Daily Post? The buck stops with Kenwright.

  16. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...--football.html It looks like someone may have read the above post. :|
  17. He's been linked before as has Anwar Perez but I think he's from Pakistan not India.
  18. If the report is true it actually weakens the case for the stadium to go ahead. In the planning application Everton state that the owners do not wish to sell the club, they argue that because the present owners will not sell the club, and do not have the finances to build a ground without a significant cross-subsidy, the move should not be called in. The present owners say a call-in would cause costs to rise to unsustainable levels. If the owners are aware that others wish to buy their shares and are simply waiting for planning permission to be granted then this could be seen as deliberately misleading both the local authority and central Government.
  19. I don't see it that way Bill. The NOTW article is saying how the group are close to purchasing Newcastle United and that the group (which includes Steve McMahon) "targeted" Everton earlier this year. I don't see how you can target a club without making an enquiry? I'll rephrase the title to appease you

  21. Turner was involved in the full Scottish squad not long ago so he's probably the better of the two reserve keepers.
