  1. Goodison Park redevelopment in all likelihood won't be cheaper but it will be more manageable because smaller chunks of money will be needed meaning the lower (more affordable) repayments. The 'Credit Crunch' has affected naming rights, previously Ian Ross had said the club would receive £6m a year, Robert Elstone said it would be around £4.5m a year. I believe that the figures quoted were ambitious because Arsenal earn £3.3million a year and they are in one of the best club stadiums in the country, in the capital city and Champions League regulars. I think that any naming rights deal at this time will be significantly lower and this'll have a knock on effect for how long it takes for the stadium to be paid off in. DM, Please answer this because you are one of the more vocal supporters for the Kirkby stadium on here, are you concerned (even slightly) that the club's financial consultants expect the stadium to intake some 40% less than what we were told by the club, that or they expect the shortfall between estimates to be covered by supplementary sales (food, drink etc.). Keith Wyness also said that the £10million would be for transfer funds in an interview with bluekipper:
  2. The broker who was part of the Nigerian bid for Newcastle has apparently met with Bill Kenwright: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle1858172.ece FOOTBALL power-broker Chris Nathaniel held talks with chairman Bill Kenwright on Saturday about a takeover of Everton. Nathaniel, who has clients from Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Nigeria, said: “There are many people from overseas interested in purchasing Premier League teams.”
  3. I thought Saw 2 was better than the first, 3rd was a let down and in all honesty and I've not seen 4 or 5 yet
  4. Deloitte - the club's financial advisors have said the stadium is expected to bring in a potential benefit of £6million a year. This is from a letter sent to Knowsley Council from Deloitte: http://www.knowsley.gov.uk/resources/23434...oitteLetter.doc Previously it had been said by club employee's that the stadium would bring in more that.

  6. A few films I want to see out in the near future: Max Payne Burn After Reading Quantum of Solace Igor - I actually do How to lose friends and alienate people. Has anyone been to the new cinema at Liverpool One? If so how do they compare to the FACT?
  7. Interesting to see whether Fellaini can make it two MOTMs in a row!
  8. There's already an all-ireland Cup Dark, it's called the Setanta Cup. Personally I'd like to see the Carling Cup expand and include professional teams from Ireland.
  9. Has anybody on here read the book about former Everton coach Stewart Imlach by his son Gary Imlach? It's been given 5 stars by few reviews on Amazon and won William Hill book of the year.

  13. I said in the original posts, it's a publicity stunt for Liverpool fans to vote for them in the elections! Don't forget Spirit of Shankly are seemingly very well supported.
  14. That won't be the reason Mps Kilfoyle, O'hara and Howarth are fully in support of Everton's move to Kirkby.
  15. Just out of interest if Everton were to have a pre-season tour in Oz, would it be popular?
  16. My response was never published, I don't know why - I wasn't rude and I didn't swear!
  17. http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/ondeman...6x9&bbwm=1# Mini documentary on how Hull's police organised the game against Everton
  18. Yeh Smith kept giving Ball pain-killing injections so he could play as he was the best player. When he was at Rangers they were struggling financially and opted not to play him because they would have to pay some of the transfer off so his career stagnated really. I still think Moyes should have signed him instead of City!
  19. I reckon your dad told her to keep her out of the house when the footy was on ! Shay, a Dublin University student, was walking on the side of the road hitch hiking on a dark and stormy night. The rain and fog was so severe he could only see a few feet ahead of him. There were no cars in sight and Shay was beginning to panic. Suddenly, he saw headlights approaching. The car was travelling very slowly and came to a stop in front of him. Desperate for shelter and without thinking about it, Shay got into the car and closed the door. Only then did he realize there was nobody behind the wheel and the engine wasn't running. The car started moving forward slowly. Shay looked at the road ahead and knew the car was approaching a sharp curve. Scared that the car would go over the embankment, Shay started to pray for his life. Just before the car hit the curve a hand appeared through the drivers side window and turned the wheel! Shay was paralysed with fear and terror as he watched the hand repeatedly come through the window though it never touched or harmed him. Shortly thereafter, Shay saw the lights of a Pub ahead. Gathering all his strength, he opened the car door, jumped out, and ran towards the Pub. Soaking wet and out of breath, he rushe d inside and started telling everyone about the horrible experience he just had. A silence enveloped the Pub when everyone realized he was crying.......and wasn't drunk. Suddenly, the Pub door opened and two other people walked in to escape the stormy night. They, like Shay, were soaking wet and out of breath. Looking around, and seeing Shay sobbing at the bar, one said to the other, 'Look Paddy, there's that idiot that got in our car while we were pushing it!!!

  21. I considered the 'review' to be the process of LFC asking RBS for a bit more leeway with the finances should any further problems occur. If RBS are asked by the government not to review, i.e. not to allow further changes to the existing terms then it could ultimately force the American owner's hands to sell. That's how I read it. Although saying that.. I had read the fans' letter to RBS which may have clouded my judgement.
  22. Several local MPs have signed a Early Day motion for Royal Bank of Scotland not to review the credit facility for Liverpool FC. http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/c...dm/81021e01.htm For arguments sake if Everton were trying to fund a new stadium or a Goodison Park redevelopment but couldn't fund it and were banking with RBS, I wouldn't expect the Government to come in and cut the availability credit lines to try and force the the board to sell. Would you be satisfied if Gordon Brown practically forced Kenwright to sell so that the development could go ahead? I really don't see why the Government should be even thinking about intervention here, would they have signed the EDM if was not a football club but another company with funding problems for a scheme (there must be hundreds across the country right now, St. Modwens and Skem maybe? I honestly don't think so and I see this as a way for a few of the local mps to get a few votes in their local area. It wasn't long ago that Peter Kilfoyle said football clubs are private businesses and can do what they want. Am I being cynical? Would this set a precedent so that any time a company couldn't afford a development the government would make it harder for them to acquire credit to force them to sell?
