  1. Sheffield Wednesday centre back and captain could be on his way. There's been a bid of £1.5m put in apparently, Coventry are also interested.
  2. It wasn't that Lee Carsley left, it's that he wasn't replaced with a similar style player! I agree with you on the prices front, in the past Everton have had some real bargains (Weir, Cahill, Arteta and Pienaar spring to mind)
  3. I think (ok.. know.) there's bound to be a few more options available than the ones you've listed, the choice is more varied than Kirkby/Tesco or Groundshare (there's Goodison for a start). The biggest obstacle in my opinion is the exclusivity deal, if that was not in place, the club could advertise that they are looking to enter a business agreement with a hotelier and/or events company (for example). There are a few companies sniffing around at the moment following on from Echo Arena's success (there's a site next to that actually) who believe that larger capacity events are commercially viable in Liverpool and may be willing to help Everton with a multi purpose stadium (as SFX were in 2004).
  4. Dark, the major plus point for a groundshare is it would be cheap. A company would be able to build the stadium and let both clubs use it for free (and pay their own costs such as policing) as it would be bringing 120,000+ fans to the area most weeks to spend money on their supplementary businesses (selling food, hospitality, hoteliers, parking etc.).
  5. David Moyes: “I know why people are against it but anyone who has seen Bayern Munich share with 1860 Munich can see how it’s done. One week it’s red, the next week blue. “There are a lot of plusses.”
  6. Sounds about right! At Stephen Appiah is still available.
  7. http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/dest...-day-three.html doesn't actually say anything
  8. The planning inspector was not there but her assistants were filling in for her. They cross examined the Everton Tesco planning expert and he was torn apart! I don't think that's me being bias either, the assistant was relentless. He criticised the design of the retail park and intimated that it would take trade away from the existing town centre, he said that the proposed footpath to be called 'Everton Way' leading to the stadium looked more like a alley way. He also has concerns about the stadiums effect on nearby houses. The houses 7metres tall are to be located near a stadium that is 34metres tall with some masts up to 48metre. The residents who live near where the site is have been told they will need bigger windows fitted to their houses to allow for enough sunlight to pass sunlight tests. The planning expert being cross examined said it didn't matter about a few of the houses because Tesco owned them, the assistant inspector said they were still living accommodation so it doesn't matter who the landlord is. With regards to the CABE report he said that design taste was subjective and he disagreed with the report and he infact liked the design.
  9. I thought it was a fair comment, he's not saying Everton and Liverpool fans can't be friends.. Alan Irvine said that the relationship between fans has soured in the interview we did with him.
  10. More importantly (only just), did you notice that he avoided the question about the scale of development?
  11. Tesco's Michael Kissman: Kirkby Shoppers: Robert Elstone: Campaigners:
  12. Please try and keep all discussion about the inquiry in here. Information - http://www.knowsley.gov.uk/kirkby/public_inquiry.html Frequently Asked Questions Q. Who owns the land that the stadium will be built on? Tesco or Everton? - Thescore A. The landowners will essentially be Knowsley Council. Everton will lease from Tesco - a 999 year agreement has been mentioned in the past. Essentially Everton will be renting the land the stadium is built on from Tesco and Robert Elstone has said that Everton will benefit from activities that go on in the stadium (presumably excluding Knowsley Council's 100 free uses per year).
  13. The video was there last night! Here's the comments from the video anyway (from google's cache): Divided opinion all round.
  14. There's a few interesting stories to be honest Steve http://www.liverpooltimes.net usually has a few (some stories are over the top but the underlying message is there!) One thing that has never been reported is that there is every chance there will be a Tesco superstore in Kirkby whether the stadium goes ahead or not because Tesco own the town centre and the land south of the town centre and there is already outline planning permission for a supermarket in place. There isn't another town like Kirkby in the country where Tesco owns the main shopping centre and still wants to build a retail park adjacent to it. The public inquiry is very similar to a test case because the planning policy is being pushed to the limit. Personally I'm surprised the competitions committee hasn't stepped in. It truly will be a Tesco town. Although some residents think it is a good thing: On the hand you've got a resident saying Tesco bought this, ousted residents and workers and boarded it up to make it look worse than it is. And it works, like KRISP group (in the video) are pointing out how it's all tinned up and an eyesore. (read the comments on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NNLHnvM2Xc& to see the disparity). It's a very interesting story to be honest once you delve a little deeper. It's not something I'd usually be interested except I am because Everton are involved. I hope the truth comes out in the press but I won't be holding my breath.
  15. He has been a busy man today.. There's an interview in the Daily Post: http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverp...64375-22272195/ An Interview on CityTalk: http://www.soundupload.com/audio/1zxjpip50qm2o8vq and he was on Radio 5 Live earlier tonight too. It's all coming to a head with the public inquiries imminent, hopefully it'll all be over by March
  16. Pienaar is a natural right sided player, it'd be nice if he wad the luxury of a left sided midfield player. Elia, you're breaking my heart. You're shaking my confidence daily
  17. The reserves left back and free kick specialist has been linked with a move to Glasgow Celtic.
  18. It's just good PR for Football Manager on their release day!
  19. Daily Star reported this too.. The problem with Arabic players is there's too many ways of spelling their names so you can never find any information on them! I've seen his name spelt as Motaeb, Mateb and Metab Dark - the quality of Al Ahly and Zamalek in Egypt is very good, they'd be competing for the top end of the Championship at least. Saying that Ibrahim Said never played when he signed for us a few years ago.
  20. Here's a random fact.. Simon Cowell is an investor in the aAim group. aAim own the Finch Farm training complex and lease it back to Everton.
  21. and there's nothing like a few accusations of "state aid":
