  1. They're also an Everton sponsor though. It just seems odd. http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/ldpbusiness/business-local/2010/10/28/everton-fc-earns-1-1m-from-10-year-link-with-britannia-92534-27556481/
  2. What's going on with this individual article being sponsored? It seems to be going down the American/television route of advertising. This programme was brought to you by Brand X. http://www.evertonfc...s-dutch-courage
  3. Moyes is reportedly on up to: £60,000 a week http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/everton/article4878465.ece I can see what Hafnia is saying being true. Certainly the manager to turnover ratio.
  4. Bill did you ever see Tommy Lawton play or is that slightly before your time? I noticed there's a book about him recently released too: http://www.amazon.co...HQBKS9DXMN94ZDR
  5. Get the women to do it then!
  6. I'd usually agree but this time I don't. I'd say that the move to Kirkby may have played a large part in the reasons for the council to reject the application. At the time Councillors were under pressure to reject it from local residents and it was cited as a major source of income to pay for the new stadium, by rejecting the proposal the council would have removed a 'Jenga block' from the Kirkby plan which would result in keeping £7m a year in their boundary. There were valid reasons for its rejection: http://www.pcs.plann...on%20Letter.pdf Everton's application met the criteria of (i) the effect of the proposal on the residential amenity of surrounding residents having regard to increased traffic movements; and but failed to meet (ii) the acceptability of the proposed residential development having regard to: ( a ) loss of green space, ( b ) housing land supply matters and ( c ) its effect on the Housing Market Renewal Initiative. So it was rejected. Some of the obstacles have since been overcome so it has a better chance of approval this time around (although it is still controversial). If it wasn't for the fact it was Everton involved would anyone bar local residents really be bothered? Probably not.
  7. I don't think so to be honest, he's not progressed as well as expected.
  8. one lucky bastard. http://www.goalymoly...da-harrington46 Did laugh at the she makes Alex Curran seem like Germaine Greer line though.
  9. That's because it's your suggestion!
  10. It was expected, 26th was optimistic. There are FOUR mortgages (two to Adams Bank and two to Barclays) attached to this plan Hopefully it'll leave enough for breathing space (cash flow) once they're be paid off. I think it'd be naive to think it would all '£10m' go to Moyes' transfer pot. I expect it'll be approved ultimately.
  11. Liverpool press are pushing/campaigning for the new Cruise liner facility to gain a license to enable it used as a starting and finishing point for cruises: http://www.liverpool...92534-27541801/ The facilities are physically there and have been paid for using the public purse but they are unlicensed for the allowing cruises to start or end there, 10 months ago an application was rejected because it was built using public money and it was felt to be unfair on other ports around the UK. Liverpool feel a Tory/Lib Dem may be more inclined to agree to its approval. Southampton doesn't want Liverpool to have it: http://www.dailyecho...ruise_business/
  12. I think so.. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/multimedia/everton-fc/everton-fc-news/video/2010/10/13/everton-fc-award-success-100252-27460644/
  13. There's no need for that sarcasm Milky. The ink isn't even dry yet.
  14. There's a movement in the USA at the moment to scrap the draft system and adopt a system like ours - from "free marketeers" typically. All of the lower tiers in USA use our transfer system. MLS was designed with longevity in mind but even that's being stretched with Donovan and Beckham being allowed at the same club. Romey - I think it's more beneficial long term, don't you? (Ratio is currently 62%) According to Lord Mawhinney who implement the rules into League One and Two; clubs overspend due to fan pressure. From an article: The idea of a cap, he admits, did not come easily to him. He says: "One club chairman said, 'If Margaret Thatcher were in her grave, she would be turning at the thought that one of her Cabinet ministers was seeking to impose wage control'." But clubs are spending money they do not have and he adds: "Many chairmen told me: 'Brian, we are not strong enough to deal with the problem'."
  15. What the football league have implemented is not a wage cap in that it does not directly limit what a player is paid. It is a regulation that prevents clubs spending over x % of their income on player wages (and bonuses). For example Mikel Arteta could earn double what he does now but Everton would have to offload other players to meet the criteria or face a punishment.
  16. Chelsea's chairman Bruce Buck has recently suggested that he'd support a "wage cap" - being an American it's no surprise because I understand there are already such regulations in place in US sports. In the Football League there was a "wage restraint" introduced a few years ago which limited the amount clubs could pay in wages to 60% of its turnover. I don't know if that is still the case. Amazingly it was a former Tory Chariman who introduced the rule. Would you support this measure or a similar one in the Premier League?
  17. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-11595485 Reminds me of the myth about hospital cleaners turning off life support machines to plug in their hoover.
  18. Alarming isn't it? Also on a related note.. this is how NY Giants and Jets share: http://www.liveleak....=88a_1284701680 (Internet Explorer needed, doesn't work in Firefox)
  19. Liverpool owner Tom Werner spoke about it recently. He said: "Groundshare seems to be controversial. From what I have heard it does not look very appealing to most people."He added: "There is an option to redevelop Anfield but we have to explore everything". http://www.mirrorfoo...l#ixzz13MPeEEET So not being ruled out but acknowledged as controversial. Same as us then.
  20. I got my Tims mixed up.. hope it didn't spoil your enjoyment of the programme...
  21. Jagielka and Howard are guests. Sky Sports 1 I think.

  23. Former Academy prospect Dax Hoogerwerf has been moved on from AFC Blackpool too.
  24. Obviously not mine.. there's a Everton programme from the 1909 Argentinian tour for sale on ebay at the moment http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EVERTON-TOTTENHAM-PROGRAMME-ARGENTINA-URUGUAY-1909-/360310186227?pt=UK_Sports_Memorabilia_Football_Programmes_ET&hash=item53e42920f3 Worth a look if only for the front cover.
  25. I'm currently reading a book about the formation of the Premier League.. Everton director Philip Carter doesn't come across well at all in it. I'll probably post about it when I've finished the book.
