  1. It's pretty simple though.. we spent money we didn't have and have now come unstuck
  2. http://www.wiziwig.eu/livesports/sports/football
  3. It doesn't look like the Echo will report it, from Greg O'Keeffe (Everton correspondent): "do you think the club is likely to openly discuss their finances with the media in the current climate?" http://twitter.com/GregOK/statuses/105755663241715713
  4. Yeah, It's also likely that Moyes didn't want to sell and I think that some fans wanted the club to make a statement showing we could afford to pay 'big club' wages. I think it comes down to a combination of Moyes pressure, fan pressure and Bill Kenwright not wanting to sell fan a fan favourite on his watch after seeing the club lose Lescott the season before.
  5. I think there were complaints, it didn't make financial sense but it was a decision to keep one of the better players at the club. I vaguely remember it being around the time of Man City and Aston Villa were interested. In hindsight, I think it was partially a contract offer to warn off other clubs and make a statement of Everton not being a 'selling club'. Incidentally, the contract signing was announced four days after we borrowed against 2011/12 Premier League money. Even Bill Kenwright acknowledged there were calls to sell him, "last year I was hung drawn and quartered for not selling Arteta."
  6. It's because he's paid £75k a week, if he were paid a third of that, it wouldn't be an issue.
  7. It's worth reading this if you haven't already: http://www.toffeeweb...ccounts2010.pdf Apparently, the man who wrote it is a former Managing Director for Optical Express. Here's an extract:
  8. I posted above about listening to iPlayer, for some reason the link no longer works. Some are saying it's because of the Everton callers' accusations and BBC have took it down, all sounds very strange.
  9. Interest isn't mentioned, see page 5 under "receivables" where it mentions the figure £1,335,489
  10. The address could be coincidence, I never said otherwise. I've seen one person suggest it's from someone called James Grant who owns the Pro-Active sports agency. I doubt we'll ever find out to be honest. That said, I'd prefer that it was Earl, he'd be more motivated to ensure that his £7m investment doesn't go down the drain.
  11. The address is on the form on the scribd.com link
  12. Man Utd are getting £40m from DHL for sponsoring their TRAINING kits http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-08-22/manchester-united-said-to-agree-on-four-year-66-million-dhl-sponsorship.html
  13. Alternatively... it can be argued that club has outgrown the current owners and it's they who cut their losses.
  14. From Sky News last night: (Yes, the guy really was wearing an Everton shirt in Tripoli!)
  15. http://www.toffeeweb...rial/18626.html Contains two emails from September 2008.
  16. Adam Davies, it is. http://www.evertonfc.com/player-profile/adam-davies
  17. I've just listened to it on iPlayer.. I hope I haven't got the wrong end of the stick because this post has been getting a lot attention today. I'll edit the post and send out an email to members if I have. I don't want to be a source of misinformation.
  18. I don't think there is a way out unless the club is bought out or someone loans the club money at a favourable rate or the club begins to slash players' wages.
  19. Incidentally Companies House have three records of a "Memorandum of satisfaction from lender lodged", dated 3 August 2011, 5 August 2011 and 7 June 2011. The August 2009 and December 2010 mortgages from above are possibly amongst them. I do not have the documents so can't verify it.
  20. I think it's a subtle call for investors Interesting that it wasn't announced though. I can't find anything on the official site.
  21. He's a midfielder - I posted this a while back: http://www.toffeetalk.com/index.php/topic/22874-wrexham-trio-signed-for-everton/
  22. He signed a new contract: http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/2011/08/21/new-deal-for-neville
  23. Why's that? (Ideally that'd be a new thread - Are Everton now a laughing stock? )
