  1. There's a good documentary about Bernie Ecclestone on 'Sky Anytime' if anybody's interested.
  2. I'd like to see him extend his contract in the summer
  3. I don't think the situation has changed much. We were in debt when Moyes took over and we are in even more debt now. Long term, I don't see Everton becoming successful in terms of silverware. We have: a ground that needs modernising and a board relying on a substantial naming rights deal and retail park funding model. an aging squad where the Cahill, Neville, Distin and Howard are coming to the end of their careers and little funds to replace them. a turnover eclipsed by our local rival's commercial income alone.
  4. Matt, I think they should start at North West Counties level for that reason Matt, if they start in a professional division they are depriving a professional club of an opportunity. Celtic in the lower leagues would be incredible for the clubs, even better than a third round tie in the FA Cup because revenue won't have to be shared. It's only a vocal minority who want independence as far as I know. There are several Welsh clubs in the English league because the Welsh clubs predate the Welsh league (Swansea, Cardiff, Wrexham, Merthyr Tydfil and Newport County). On a similar theme, I don't see a problem with Welsh-based clubs in the English pyramid qualifying for Europe through the Welsh cup. Lichtenstein clubs qualify through a cup that play in the Swiss league, Lichtenstein don't have a professional league either.
  5. There's hope.. Clarke Carlisle collapsed in a similar fashion and was okay.
  6. I don't think it's likely to happen just yet, but I think it will in the future. I don't have a problem with it, however I do think that they should start as high as possible outside of the Conference.. similar to what AFC Wimbledon have had to do. It's unfair on the existing clubs in the Football League and conference for a team to simply come in and take over someone else's place.
  7. 'The People' is reporting that Celtic have held talks with the football league with a view to join the football league in the future. http://www.skysports.com/tv_show/story/0,,12382_7606281,00.html
  8. Is it too early to say that I don't think Jelavic is good enough ?
  9. Replay scheduled for March 27th 19:45 kick off Sandwiched between Swansea away and West Brom at home.
  10. I can't blame him for doing so, he's been a pro since 16, he's now 19 and played less than twenty minutes. He'll want to play more, simple as that. At least Everton will get compensation for him, unless the contract offer was only verbal.
  11. Robert Elstone spoke recently at a business forum. Stadium “Chelsea FC recently did some work about the challenge of redeveloping and staying at Stamford Bridge, and it said their capacity would go down.” He said the London club had been told it would be hugely complex and also cost £600m. “There are similar problems to rebuilding Goodison. “The only sensible option is land acquisition. I genuinely believe that the redevelopment of Goodison is not a realistic option.” He said ideas to redevelop the Park End would still leave the other three sides of the stadium in desperate need of updating. “We have to look for a new site and use the Kirkby funding model which involved 40% to 45% of the capital cost coming from retail uplift subsidy. “I don’t think there are a shortage of sites, I believe there is a shortage of funding. “I think our optimum capacity is around 50,000, which generates an extra £5m [a year]. That means its tight, it needs a great naming rights deal or subsidy, or probably both.” 39th game Robert Elstone: “I would welcome it, because I think the Premier League has to be bold and innovative and push the boundaries. “Having said that I would feel uncomfortable if it were tacked on the end of the season and was worth three points. “I think it will not happen because of the context in which it fits in the calendar” Commercial revenues Robert Elstone: “I don’t think we are on the same level of opportunity as Liverpool. “I hope that does not come across as a lack of ambition, or means that we are shortsighted in any way. “We have a fantastic relationship with Chang and we are about to announce an interesting project in China which is commercially very lucrative for us. “I think a big focus at the moment is exporting our know how on an international basis – development of talented elite footballers and secondly our community engagement programmes. “For me the development of the international fan base feels a big challenge that will need a lot of time, a lot of resource and patience. “My part is re-engaging the local community putting bums on seats in Goodison Park. “If that comes across as being myopic, my apologies.” http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2012/03/16/liverpool-fc-and-everton-fc-chiefs-ian-ayre-and-robert-elstone-reveal-thoughts-on-future-of-both-clubs-100252-30548720/
  12. It was closed off to the public the last time I saw it.
  13. Nice article on Hundred Percent about the new role of the FA. http://www.twohundredpercent.net/?p=17920
  14. The simple answer... there's prize money at stake in the Sunderland game.
  15. Does anyone watch Storyville on BBC 4? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006mfx6
  16. You're wrong Matt. Face it. 11 minutes though :\ For the price of the tickets the fans are ripped off entirely. I thought football was bad with a third of game with the ball not being in play.
  17. That's been more than offset by the money being offered though Mike. Up to £25m per season, it'd take 5months of that deal to eclipse the entirety of Everton's. Although it's worth mentioning that it's a subsidiary of New Balance and they've been relatively well known for a while. They don't have the street credit though and I presume that's why they've paid over the odds for the LFC deal as they want to get the brand out there.
  18. Interesting video from an American on football on tv:
  19. http://www1.skysport...t-balls-cost-us I find the way that Sky have spun it as a bit embarrassing..we had not played in Europe since the 95/96 season so had a low coefficient. Although Moyes commenting on his thoughts on UEFA seems a bit odd. In hindsight, we were lucky to be involved and if the same scenario occurs, we'd go into the UEFA Cup because the rules were rewritten shortly afterwards so that the winner qualifies for the Champions League. "Everyone knows the previous season Liverpool had won the European Cup so deep down I didn't think they (UEFA) wanted five British teams in the group stages. "I am sure they were all delighted when we were knocked out."
  20. I like a song from the US Office series.. Human Beinz - Nobody but me
  21. It's similar to Young Americans but a lot slower.
  22. Just noticed that is Kid from Kidnplay in the Sorry for Party rocking video
