  1. The television rights for the Premier League for the 2013/14 to 2015/16 seasons have been put out to tender. The season after next, there will be more games than ever on UK television - 154 (currently 138) out of 380 played will be shown live. No single bidder is allowed to win the rights for more than 116 games (75% as set by the Competition Commission) The rights have been split into five packages: 5 packages of 26 games 2 packages of 12 games. Other packages going out to tender are: Free-To-Air television highlights including “catch up rights”. 2 packages of 226 near live games, one for “linear” coverage and one for “on-demand” coverage. An Internet based clips package for all 380 matches. http://www.premierle...ent-030512.html
  2. Robert Elstone hinted that a player will be sold this summer to fund new transfers last month, the reason given was lower attendance levels which lowered income £1.5m based on last year and we've been on television 7 times less than last year (£3.4m less than last year if my sums are correct).
  3. You're thinking of Rodwell. Barkley is from Wavertree.. he went to Broadgreen.

  5. He's now on EvertonTV talking about it: http://www.evertonfc.com/evertontv/home/7364
  6. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footballnation/cardiff-city/cardiff-city-fc/2012/05/08/the-full-story-cardiff-city-set-for-new-red-kit-and-club-emblem-91466-30926656/ It looks like certain influential people are looking to rebrand Cardiff as a truely Welsh club with red kits and a dragon in the emblem.
  7. Apparently it's to be called "The Binman Chronicles". Southall was asking for suggestions for the title and the publisher ran a fan competition where he could choose to the winner. I think it's a play on words of The Batman Chronicles but can't be sure. Personally, I preferred the suggestions "Lifting the lid" or the Robin Askwith-inspired "Confessions of a bin man".
  8. Not really Pete.. I enjoyed book although it's aimed at teens and the author is intent on having a girl love-torn between two characters, at times it's a bit much. I enjoyed the story and the thought process behind the character's actions but the film falls short, it's an hour of build up and an hour of Battle Royale with a 12a rating.
  9. I'll have strong words with the monkey in the social media department.
  10. I saw it the other night, I was disappointed with it to be honest - same reason as you, should have been more graphic. The shaky camera was annoying. Also, they removed four of the key characters for the story arc which annoyed me. Some camera angles were really strange. What I did like was the ethnicity of the tributes by region in the film which was hinted at in the book. Lenny was pretty good, I hope he agrees to be in the sequels. I seem to love Dystopian-themed stories. Have you ever read The Running Man?
  11. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/dropped-points-the-true-price-of-a-european-place-revealed-7723277.html Some interesting research here.
  12. and the Post. http://www.dailypost...55578-30928096/
  13. I used to think the phrase was "damp squid" and presumed it meant similar to a fish out of water.
  14. He had said similar before the FA Cup semi final. I don't think it's likely he'll be here this time next month.
  15. UEFA chose Ukraine and Poland, not FIFA. Michel Platini has always maintained that UEFA should be apolitical. Tymoshenko is the former president of Ukraine who was jailed because the she was considered to have abused her position in office when negotiating a gas deal in 2009. That's literally it, no more details. The reason for her imprisonment is because of "abuse of power". When in jail she claims to have been beaten by guards (pictures have been posted online) and she's gone on hunger strike. It's caused a schism politically and there are protests for and against her release.
  16. Interview with Philip Lahm http://www.spiegel.de/international/europe/interview-with-germany-soccer-team-captain-philipp-lahm-on-ukraine-a-831792.html He says he's considering not shaking the Ukrainian president's hands over the treatment of Yulio Tymoshenko
  17. That sports news video thing that comes on whenever you visit newspaper websites. It doesn't even remember if you've paused it previously and will start to play each time a new page is loaded. In the end I used adblocker on it.
  18. He played 5 minutes against Sunderland coming on for Neville. I think Everton will be relatively untouched England (2 - Baines & Jagielka and I'm not confident about Jags), Ireland (1 - Gibson) and Croatia (1 - Jelavic)
  19. Possibly, Paul Green, one of the players on standby doesn't even have a club.
  20. Darron Gibson has been named in the Ireland squad and Seamus Coleman has been named on the standby list. Duffy misses out. http://www.fai.ie/in...quad-named.html
  21. Why am I not surprised that Upton Park is the venue for this?
  22. I like Distin, he's probably the most interesting EFC player on twitter. Opinionated and honest. The rest are pretty dull.
  23. The keeper may have saved it, he and the two defenders both stopped trying once the whistle had gone for offside. We'll never know.
