Wrexham_Fan
Hi, before I start, apologies for posting this into the main forum, unfortunatly we need maximum exposure. I'm a Wrexham Fan as you may of guessed from my username, and Wrexham fans are currently rallying the Local Council to preserve The Racecourse Ground in the Local Development Plan (LDP) to safeguard the future of the venue for years to come. Some of you might be aware we had a long 4 year struggle to save our club from property developers not so long ago, and eventually won that battle, we are now asking fans from across britain to come to our aid again, to save the historic Racecourse Ground, which has recently been entered into the Gunniess Book Of World Records for being the oldest international stadium still in use. An online petition is currently underway with fans from Brighton & HA, Man Utd, Dunferline, Liverpool, and even ex players and managers are signing, and I ask very kindly of you to spare 2 minutes of your time to sign the petition which is gaining nationwide media coverage. Here is the link to the petition - http://www.petitiononline.com/LDPWFC21/petition.html And here is one of the stories in the paper which is a better summary of what is going on than my post - http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/david-conn-inside-sport-blog/2009/jul/20/wrexham Good Luck For The Coming Season! Good luck to you too. I think a number of our fans can relate to your situation bearing in mind what is happening with our Stadium. I hope everything comes out alright for you. (I happen to live in North Wales myself so I do know the way your fans feel about your club.) Once again good luck to you and all Robins fans. Louis
SteveO - We didn't read David Conn's article Developers are putting themselves into a position were they are able to asset strip Wrexham FC and leave them without a new stadium. I thought that the University owned the site, I didn't know it was private developers. What they are asking for is for the Racecouse Ground to marked down by the council as a leisure area so that for example a residential area can not be built there.
